Two debtors (Luke 7:41-43) | back

41There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. A man loaned money to two people. One $5,000 and $5oo to the other.

42And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Neither of them could pay the man back so he forgave the debt for the both of them. Which of them would love him the most Jesus asked?

43Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. The one who owed the most I would think. Jesus answered him and said he was correct.
