The growing seed (mark 4:26-29) | back
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground. The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who plants a seed into the ground. We could also say that it would be like a Christian who shares a truth of Gods Word with another.
And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. As the farmer went away the seed grew and grew without his help, and he does not know how it happens. Just as the Christian shares a truth of the Word with another and it may cause that truth to grow within. That one truth could change a persons life, or cause them to search for more truth. We don't know how it happens, but it does.
For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. The soil made the seed grow, first a leaf blade pushed through, and later the ear, and later the full ear of corn ripened. As Christians, we can only share the truth, but it is up to our Heavenly Father whether or not the truth will take. Keep in mind that you need good seed to produce good fruit. Just as the Christian needs real truth of the Word to share and not traditions of men and false teachings.
But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. The farmer came at once to harvest when it was done. The Kingdom of God is likened in the same way. When the time is right, our Heavenly Father will begin the harvest of His children; those who have the truth of the Word.
