Promise of the Holy Spirit (John 14:1-31) | back

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. You trust in God, now trust in Me. We will work it out.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. In My Fathers house there are many places of rest and I go to prepare a place for you. This word mansions is "mone" (Strong's g3438), from the prime "meno" (Strong's 3306), which means a resting place.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Christ was going to prepare the Holy Spirit and Himself for us.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. You know where I am going and how to get there.

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? We don't know where you are going so how can we know the way Thomas replied.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. No man can get to the Father except through Christ. (Christ is the way and the path).

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. If you knew who I am, then you would have known who My Father is. From now on you know Him and have seen Him. (Emmanuel, God with us)!

Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Show us the Father and we will be satisfied Philip replied. (They still didn't understand that they were looking at Him).

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Don't you know who I am Philip? After all the time I have been with you, you still don't know Me. Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The Words I speak are not mine, but of the Father that lives in Me. He does His work through Me! (Dwelleth, "abide," "meno," to dwell in a safe secure place).

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Believe what I say, or believe because of the mighty miracles you have seen Me do.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Through the Comforter, (The Holy Spirit), you will do even greater works. (Spreading the truth of the Word)!

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Ask for anything in Christ's Name and I will do it for you if it be the will of the Father.

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. This is for use for the ministry and spreading the Word, not for your own pleasure.

If ye love me, keep my commandments. If you love Christ you will keep His commandments. Yes, the ten commandments still apply to us all today. (It is impossible to keep all of them, that is what repentance is for).

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. He will send the comforter, (The Holy Spirit), and He will never leave you. (Abide, "meno," to dwell with us).

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. The "Holy Spirit" who leads to all truth. The world at large cannot receive Him because they are not looking for Him and do not recognize Him. But you do and He will dwell with you. (He's at home with you; He mansions with you).

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. I will not abandon you in the storm, I will always come to you. "God will never leave you or forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. I will be gone from the world in just a little while, but I will be present with you. I will live again and you shall live again.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. When I come back again you will know that I and my Father are one in you. (The oneness of Almighty God)!

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. The one who obeys Me is one who loves Me; and My Father will love them because they love and obey My commandments. "Then I will reveal Myself to Him." (Know the commandments of God and keep them)!

Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Another disciple named Judas asked Him, "Why are you going to reveal yourself only to us disciples and not to the world at large?"

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Jesus replied; Because I will only reveal Myself to those who love Me and obey Me. The Father will love them too, and will come and live with them. "Abode (mansion) with them." (Emmanuel, God with us)!

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. Anyone who doesn't obey Me doesn't love Me. The Words that you hear are not from Me, "but the Words from God."

These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. I tell you these things now while I am still with you. (Christ would be leaving soon; transfigured).

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. But the Father sends the Comforter in My name; and the Comforter, ("Holy Spirit"), will teach you all things just as I have told you. (The Holy Spirit can open your eyes and ears to all truth).

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. I will leave you with a gift; "peace of mind and heart." There is nothing to be troubled about!

Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. I am going away but I will come back again. If you really love Me, you will rejoice for Me, because now I can go to the Father, who is greater than I am.

And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. I have told these things before they happen so that when they do, you will believe in Me. (Come to pass with understanding).

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. I don't have much more time to talk to you, because the evil prince of this world is coming soon, and has no power over Me. (Satan is coming)!

But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. I will do what the Father requires of Me so that the world will know that I love the Father. (God is always in control)!
