Jesus equality with God (John 5:17-47) | back

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. The Jewish leaders were harassing Jesus because He just healed a man on the Sabbath day. Jesus replied to them; My Father constantly does good, and I am following His example. (At this ministry we do the work of God every day when possible, not just on a certain day). Sabbath simply means rest, and we find our rest in Jesus Christ. (Matthew 11:28). The Sabbath was nailed to the cross with many other ceremonies and traditions. (Colossians 2:13-17). So, lets not make a big deal out of what day people worship!

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. They wanted to kill Him because He healed on Sabbath, and claimed to be the Son of God. (Nice bunch of religious leaders). He was God's only begotten Son (Immanuel), God with us! (Isaiah 7:14).

Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. The Son can do nothing by Himself. He only does what He sees the Father doing, and does it the same way. Why? Because when you have seen the Son, you have seen the Father. (In the flesh)!

For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. The Father loves the Son, and tells Him everything He is doing; and the Son will do far more awesome miracles than this man's healing. (They would marvel at His miracles and still want to kill Him).

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. He will even raise from the dead anyone He wants to, just as the Father does. (The Son makes alive who He will). Many today are spiritually dead; the truth in the Word can bring them back to life in this body and eternally. Christ is that Word!

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son. The Heavenly Father leaves all judgment of sin to His Son. (If you do not accept the Son, you are in trouble).

That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. You should honor the Son just as the Father. If you do not honor the Son who was sent by the Father, then you not honoring the Father. (They are one in the same)!

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Anyone who listens to the message of Christ and believes in the Father who sent Him has eternal life. He will never be damned for his sins, but has already passed out of death into life. (Life without end)!

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. The time is coming and is here now, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God. And they that hear shall live! While in the Spirit, Christ even went back to the souls of old, so that they may have a chance of salvation. (I Peter 3:18-19).

For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself. "This is the fountain of life that makes us spiritually alive."

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Christ has the authority to judge all mankind, because He is the Son of Man. (God with us)! When you look upon Christ, you look at God!

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice. The time is coming soon when all will hear the voice of God's Son. Why? Because God loves His children and it is His will that all will come to salvation.

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. Those who have done good will have eternal life, and those who have done evil face damnation. The damnation here is judgment after life and the the second resurrection. (Revelation 20).

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. I pass no judgment without consulting the Father. I judge as I am told, and my judgment is absolutely fair and just, because it is in God's will. (Always pray in God's will)!

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. When I make claims about myself they aren't believed.

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. The other witness is John the Baptist. (Not St. John). John the Baptist was making claims for Christ also, and many went out to listen to him.

Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. Christ assures us that what John is preaching is true.

But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. The truest witness I have is not from man, even though I have reminded you about John's witness that you will believe in me and be saved. (The truest witness because He was the Messiah).

He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. John shined brightly for a while with his witnessing and you benefited and rejoiced.

But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. I have a greater witness than John. I refer to the miracles that I do; that have been assigned to me by my Father. These works prove that the Father has sent me.

And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. The Heavenly Father himself has testified about me, even though He has not appeared to you personally, or speaks to you directly.

And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. You do not have God's Word in you, because you refuse to believe me; the one that God has sent to you with His message. (It was God with them and they did not accept Him).

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. You search the scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But, the scriptures point to me! "It all points to Christ foretold in scripture, for He is the Word." (Deuteronomy 18:15, Isaiah 7:14)

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. But you still won't come to me so that I can give you eternal life.

I receive not honour from men. I receive no honor from men, and your approval or disapproval means nothing to me.

But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I know so well that you don't have God's love within you. (Speaking mainly about the Kenites here).

I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. Christ came representing the Father (God in the flesh), and they refuse to welcome Him. But, if another comes representing himself, they readily receive him. (The anti-Christ they will receive).

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? No wonder you can't believe; You gladly honor each other, but you don't care about the honor that comes from the only God! (A bunch of hypocrites playing church)!

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. It is not I (the Messiah), who will accuse you of this to the Heavenly Father. But Moses will! The one on whose laws you set your hopes on heaven.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. If you really believed Moses, you would have believed me; because Moses wrote about me. (Deuteronomy 18:15).

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? "Since you did not believe what Moses wrote about me, no wonder you don't believe me either."
