Be not afraid (Luke 12:1-12) | back
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Now the crowds of people grew until there were thousands upon thousands crushing each other. Then Christ turned to His disciples and warned them. First of all, beware of the Pharisees and the way they pretend to be good, when they are not. A bunch of hypocrites! They will be exposed sooner or later. Just as we have hypocrites and false teachers today. They are being exposed in our society today as the truth of the Word comes forth by those who teach the truth, and not a bunch of traditions of men.
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Everything will come out in the end!
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. Whatever they have said in the dark shall be heard in the light. And anything spoken in secret, shall be broadcast from the housetops for all to hear!
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. Do not be afraid of those who can only kill the body; because they have no power over your soul.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Fear God! Only He has the power to kill and then cast into hell. (Matthew 10:28).
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? The price of five sparrows is only a couple of pennies. But God does not forget a single one of them.
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. God knows the number of hairs on your head! You are much more valuable to Him than a whole flock of sparrows.
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God. Christ tells us. If you acknowledge me here on earth as your friend; I will acknowledge you before the angels of God.
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. But, Christ also tells us that if we deny Him before men; He will deny us before the angels of God.
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven. Christ goes on to say. Whosoever speaks against the Son of man, may be forgiven. But one who speaks against the Holy Spirit, shall never be forgiven.
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say. When you are delivered up to the synagogues of Satan, don't be concerned about what you should say.
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. The Holy Spirit shall speak for you and through you. This applies to the elect who will be delivered up before Satan in that hour of temptation. (Mark 13:11). Do not be afraid!
