Take no thought (Luke 12:22-34) | back
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. Jesus said to His disciples. Don't worry about having food to eat or clothes to wear.
The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Life consists of far more than food and clothes.
Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? Look at the ravens. They don't have food stored away and they get along just fine. God feeds them and always provides. You are much more valuable to God than the birds of the earth!
And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? Why worry! What good does it do? It will not add one single day to your life. In fact, if anything, worrying will take away from your life.
If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? If worrying can't even help the little things, what's the use of worrying over big things? Being a worrywart will get you no where.
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Look at the lilies! They don't toil and spin, and yet Solomon in all his glory was not robed as well as they are.
If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? If God provides clothing for the flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, don't you thing that our Heavenly Father will provide clothing for you, you doubters?
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. Don't worry about food and drink for yourselves. God will always provide for His children.
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. All mankind seek after these things, but our Heavenly Father knows your needs.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Make the Word and the Kingdom of God your primary concern and our Heavenly Father will always provide your daily needs.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Fear not! It gives your Heavenly Father much pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. Quit being so materialistic and greedy, and give to others in need. It is not the things of this world that make you rich in heaven. It is your good deeds here that will build your riches in heaven. Your treasures in heaven will never disappear, and no thief can steal them.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Wherever your treasure is, your heart and thoughts will also be.
