A house divided (Matthew 12:22-37) | back

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. Jesus totally healed him. This is real power, documenting that He is Messiah!

And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? The crowds were amazed. "Maybe Jesus is the Messiah!" they exclaimed.

But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. The Pharisees were really mad now that they heard about the miracle and accused Him of being a devil. (Satan; king of devils). Now remember back in verse 15 when Christ left the church the whole congregation left with Him. The Pharisees were not happy about this. (a little loss from their livelihood maybe).

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. A divided Kingdom ends in ruin, and a city or home divided against itself cannot stand.

And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? Satan would not cast out himself!

And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. If as you claim that I am casting out demons by invoking the powers of Satan, then by what power do your own children (people) use when they cast them out. Let them answer your accusation! You see; They had no power or authority to cast out devils because they were part of Satan and his devils.

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. God's Spirit has come down to you. (The Holy Spirit).

Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. One cannot rob Satan's kingdom without first binding Satan. Only then can his demons be cast out! Christ had to be stronger than Satan in order to rid this man of evil spirits. (Christ was saying; I am stronger than Satan).

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Anyone that isn't helping me is harming me. If you get yourself wrapped up in traditions of men and false teachings, they make void the Word of God.

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit! (Luke 12:10-12) The unforgivable sin!

And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. We are speaking of "God in the flesh" when we speak of the "Son of man." The unpardonable sin is to refuse the "Holy Spirit" speaking through you when you are delivered up to Satan.

Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. A tree from a select variety produces good fruit; poor varieties don't. What trees were in the garden? The tree of "knowledge of good and evil" (Satan), and the "tree of life" (Christ). Don't be deceived or conned by people and false teachers!

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Addressing those who accused Him Christ would say; How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For a mans heart determines his speech. Now lets take the word "generation" to the Greek. Strong's #108 which means (offspring or produce, fruit). Christ was talking to those who were the seed of the serpent. (Genesis 3:13-15). These would be the "Kenites" that worked their way in with our brother Judah.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. A good mans speech reveals his rich treasure within. An evil hearted man is filled with venom, and his speech reveals it.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. This leans towards false teachings and traditions of men.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Teachers and ministers of the Word will be held accountable for what they teach.
