Jeremiah meaning “Yahveh exalts” (the launching forth one)! Jeremiah is the name traditionally credited with authoring the Book of Jeremiah, I Kings, II Kings, and the Book of Lamentations with the assistance and under the editorship of Baruch Ben Neriah, his scribe and disciple. Jeremiah was the second of the major prophets of the Hebrew Bible. God’s personal message to Jeremiah, “Attack you they will, overcome you they can’t, was fulfilled many times in the Biblical narrative. Jeremiah was attacked by his own brothers, beaten and put into the stocks by a priest and false prophet, imprisoned by the king, threatened with death, thrown into a cistern by Judah’s officials, and opposed by a false prophet. The book of Jeremiah was written to the house of Israel.
Jeremiah 1
Jer 1:1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: Jeremiah, like Nathan, Ezekiel, and Zechariah, were of priestly origin. Anathoth: (answers to prayers), Three miles north-east of Jerusalem. (a city that belonged to the priests). Jeremiah was persecuted there before he prophesied in Jerusalem. (Jeremiah 11:21, 12:6). "This would prepare him for later conflicts."
Jer 1:2 To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. Jeremiah started his ministry around 618 B.C. (see appendix 50), a year after Josiah began his reformation. (2 Chronicles 34:3). Sixty-six years after Isaiah ended. Josiah was the last of the good kings. (He would purge Judah and Jerusalem from idol worship). For the chronology of Jeremiah, see appendix 77 and 83 of the companion bible.
Jer 1:3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. The month that Jerusalem was destroyed (2 Kings 25:3-8). Some say that Jeremiah continued his ministry in the land and later went down to Egypt. (The bible doesn't really tell us this). Keep in mind that Josiah was a good king, and his son Zedekiah had three daughters who were Royal Princesses. (Scota, Tamer, and Tephi). Theses daughters were of the king line.
Jer 1:4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Here comes the first prophecy.
Jer 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. He was a prophet to all the nations chosen by God.
Jer 1:6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. Jeremiah was only around 21 years old and not a good speaker yet. (Pretty common with all God's messengers). Just because you are not a good speaker or writer, don't think that God will not use you. If He has a purpose for you, He will make it work.
Jer 1:7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Don't worry about being to young, or what you should say. God will speak through you and give you all the tools you need to succeed in His work. (Matthew 28:20, Mark 13:11).
Jer 1:8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Jeremiah might not be liked by the people, but the Lord is with him and will protect him. (i.e. when God is with you, don't be afraid).
Jer 1:9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. Touched by the Word of God! God will put the correct words in your mouth through the Holy Spirit when needed. (Luke 12:12).
Jer 1:10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. The house of God needs to be restored. i.e. sometimes things are so bad that you need to tear them down, before you re-build them back up.
Jer 1:11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Here comes the second prophecy. Here we have an alert, to be a watcher. (The almond tree is the first of the trees to wake from it's winter sleep).
Jer 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. I will hasten: I am watching. I will use you to carry out My plans.
Jer 1:13 And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north. A boiling pot of water spilling from the north. (The enemy though situated on the east, would advance from the north, through Dan, the usual route from Assyria).
Jer 1:14 Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. Terror from the north (the Babylonians), will come upon the people of this land.
Jer 1:15 For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah. Where the kings of Judah had sat to judge and rule (Jeremiah 39:3), for here the setting is hostile. (It's happening again in the end times).
Jer 1:16 And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. Judgment on the people for all their evil. (Burning incense and worshipping idols made by man). "It's still going on today in some churches."
Jer 1:17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. Get ready and do it My way, not your way, or I will make you look foolish. (Ephesians 6:11-17), put on the gospel armor.
Jer 1:18 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. You will stand against the whole land. (Kings, officials, priests, and all the people). "Quite a task given to Jeremiah."
Jer 1:19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee. God will take care of Jeremiah through all difficulties. (Psalm 129:2).
Jeremiah 2
Jer 2:1 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Message from God.
Jer 2:2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown. They were close to God (like a young bride), because they were in need. However, even in the wilderness, Israel was unfaithful. (Amos 5:25-26, Acts 7:39-43).
Jer 2:3 Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD. Anyone who tried to hurt Israel, disaster fell upon them.
Jer 2:4 Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
Jer 2:5 Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? What did your ancestors find wrong with Me that you had to go and worship worthless idols?
Jer 2:6 Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt? They didn't even come to Me, or ask about Me.
Jer 2:7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. God brought them into a fruitful land to enjoy, but they let the land become corrupted. (Psalm 78:58-59, 106:38-39).
Jer 2:8 The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. The priests and pastors didn't ask about Me and just ignored Me. The prophets spoke in the name of Baal. (False teachings). "They do it today."
Jer 2:9 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead. My case, I will plead, and I won't give up on you or your children.
Jer 2:10 For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing. Look around you and see if anyone will do that.
Jer 2:11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Has any nation ever traded their gods for new ones. (Even though they are not gods at all). At least they stick with their false god. You exchange Me (a glorious God), for a worthless idol. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. (Romans 1:23). Instead of worshipping the "Living God" they worship idols made to look like people and animals. (Revelation 9:20), Ones claiming to be servants of God.
Jer 2:12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. Even the heavens are shocked at such a thing.
Jer 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Two evil things. Abandoned Me, the fountain of living water. (They made a religion that will not hold or produce water). A cistern will not produce water, you need to fill it. God’s Word is like a fountain of living water. (Psalm 36:9, John 4:14, Revelation 22:17).
Jer 2:14 Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled? Why has Israel become a slave?
Jer 2:15 The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant. The land has been destroyed and the towns in ruins.
Jer 2:16 Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head. Noph: The capital of Egypt. Tahapanes: A city in Egypt. They have destroyed Israel's glory and power.
Jer 2:17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way? You brought this upon yourselves. God showed you the way, but you rebelled and followed a nation.
Jer 2:18 And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river? You have gained nothing by your alliance with Egypt. You can drink from the Nile, or the Euphrates, but you will not be quenched. "They had forsaken the living water of the Lord."
Jer 2:19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts. Your wickedness will bring your own punishment. Turning from Me will shame you and you will see the evil it will bring upon you.
Jer 2:20 For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot. God has delivered you out of bondage, but you still said, I will not serve you. (i.e. God gives every one of His children a chance to hear the truth and come out of bondage, but many of them will still go to a church that feeds them what they want to hear).
Jer 2:21 Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me? I planted you as a vine of the purest stock. However, you grow into a corrupt wild vine. Remember, Christ is the vine that you want to be part of. However, Satan is the corrupt wild vine that many choose to follow.
Jer 2:22 For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD. Not even the strongest lye soap can make you clean. Thank God we have the "Blood of Christ" to wash us clean. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7). If we walk in the light and fellowship with Christ, it cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8). If we say we will never sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. Many believe that once you are saved you cannot sin. Not so... We are all sinners as long as we are in this flesh body. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9). If we confess our sins we can count on God to wash away all our sins because Christ became that one time sacrifice for our sins.
Jer 2:23 How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways; You say you did not worship false gods, but just look in any valley in the land. (The evidence is there). Your like a restless female camel searching for a mate.
Jer 2:24 A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her. Like a wild donkey, sniffing the wind at mating time. i.e. you search for truth through traditions of men, and sniff out any new teaching you can find that makes void the true Word of God. (You only want to hear what's easy and makes you feel good).
Jer 2:25 Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go. You people go crazy running after other gods.
Jer 2:26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets, Your like a thief who only feels shame when he is caught. You kings, officials, priests, and prophets are all like this. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. (Romans 6:21). What is the result of being a slave to sin? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. (James 1:15), Evil thoughts bring forth evil actions and can lead to the death penalty from God.
Jer 2:27 Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us. To an image carved from wood they say "You are my father." To an idol chiseled from a block of stone they say "You are my mother." (Turning their back on God). "But, when they are in real trouble, then they pray to God." Sound familiar? Who are you praying to?
Jer 2:28 But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah. Why not call on these gods then? There's a god on every corner now days. Places of worship that divide the Word of God. (it's called denominationalism).
Jer 2:29 Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD. You brake the laws of God and then you blame Me.
Jer 2:30 In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion. I sent prophets to correct you, but you respond by killing them. It happens today... God sends good teachers who teach the full gospel, (truth in the Word), without traditions of men, and you just ignore them or make fun of them.
Jer 2:31 O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee? We don't need God they say, we can do things our way. (Psalm 12:4). (They follow their own doctrine and make up their own laws). Again, sound familiar? God does not like it. (Revelation 3:15-17).
Jer 2:32 Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number. You remember these things, but you have forgotten Me.
Jer 2:33 Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways. A prostitute can learn from you about being unfaithful. Maybe Satan can even learn from you about being evil.
Jer 2:34 Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these. Your stained with blood of the innocent and poor because of your actions.
Jer 2:35 Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned. They claim they have done nothing wrong. "God isn't angry with me." Watch out when you say you have never sinned. God will do the judging, and punish those who deserve it. We are all sinners, and fall short at times. If we say we have not sinned, we are liars. (1 John 1:8-10).
Jer 2:36 Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria. Egypt will let you down just as Assyria did before. (i.e. God wants you to depend on Him, not someone else).
Jer 2:37 Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them. Your ways of will not help you anyone. The Lord has rejected the nations you trust and they will not help you at all. (Moving from one nation to another looking for help, just as many today move from one church to another looking for truth). Look for truth in Gods Word as it is written, not from some building or denomination teaching traditions of men. Its what's being taught that makes a good church. If you have a church teaching you chapter by chapter the truth in the word, then you are in the right church. But, always check them out in the Word of God. We are getting close to the end times my friend, and there is no time for error.
Jeremiah 3
Jer 3:1 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. Israel was like a prostitute that took many lovers. Contrary to the law of (Deuteronomy 24:1-4).
Jer 3:2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness. Defiled the land by idolatry with other gods.
Jer 3:3 Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed. There were two main rainy seasons in Israel, early season and late season. They were both needed for fully grown crops. (The latter rain would be held back because of their wickedness). The latter rain of the end times is the truth of God's Word. (It will also be held back if people continue in their wicked ways).
Jer 3:4 Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
Jer 3:5 Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest. You say, God won't be angry with us forever. A lot of talk about returning to Me, but you continue in your sins over and over again.
Jer 3:6 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. "Josiah was a good king." Israel here is talking about the northern kingdom which was taken captive by the Assyrian. Israel has worshipped other gods on every hill.
Jer 3:7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. After all this I thought Israel would return to Me, but she did not. Judah: the southern kingdom, saw this.
Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. God divorced faithless Israel because of her adultery. Judah saw what happened, but had no fear, and she too, has left Me and given herself to prostitution. (Judah learned no lesson here).
Jer 3:9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. The land became polluted because of idol worship. (People need to learn that God does not like when you pray to or worship anything but Him). Forget the statues and idols made by man, and quit praying to men, women, and saints. (Go to the only important source, you have the Heavenly Father, forget the other idols).
Jer 3:10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD. You can't pretend and play church with God. You will never fool Him. (Psalm 78:36-37).
Jer 3:11 And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah. Israel has justified herself (Ezekiel 16:51-52), but not Judah. (Judah should have known better).
Jer 3:12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever. Toward the north: Toward the northern kingdom of Israel. Repent and turn back to Me the Lord says.
Jer 3:13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD. At least acknowledge your guilt that you sinned and rebelled against Me. Confess your sins and ask the Lord for forgiveness. (1 John 1:8-10).
Jer 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: Return to Me and I will restore you to peace at Zion, no matter where you are scattered. (Ezekiel 34:11-14).
Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. A good pastor is one who feeds the people truth in God's Word with understanding. (Not traditions of men, or church doctrine). How is your Pastor doing?
Jer 3:16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. You won't need the Ark of the Covenant, the Heavenly Father will guide you. You will have the new Covenant (Jesus Christ).
Jer 3:17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. At that time: Referring to the future restoration. All nations gathered: Again, refers to the future restoration of the end times.
Jer 3:18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. In those days: Still referring to future restoration. (Ezekiel 37:16-22).
Jer 3:19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. God want our love, and He wants us to call Him Father. (Matthew 6:8-9, Romans 8:15).
Jer 3:20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD. You were unfaithful to Me. You went after the false one. (Hosea 5:7, 6:7, Malachi 2:11).
Jer 3:21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God. Crying out to their false gods on high mountains. They have chosen the crooked paths and forgotten the Lord.
Jer 3:22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God. Repent, and return to Me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.
Jer 3:23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. You won't get nothing by your worship of idols and religious orgies on mountains, for they are a delusion. Only in the Lord will Israel find true salvation.
Jer 3:24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. All their labors squandered on a delusion.
Jer 3:25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God. Never obeyed the Lord from their childhood to this day. (Proverbs 5:13, Daniel 9:10).
Jeremiah 4
Jer 4:1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove. The Lord telling Israel, "If you wanted to return to Me you could." "Get rid of the idols and stray no more."
Jer 4:2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. If you swear by My name, do it in truth. (Don't just say it). Then you would be a blessing to all the nations of the world.
Jer 4:3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. Stir up the hardness in your hearts! Clean it up so you don't plant seed among thorns. The thorns will choke out the good seed. (Matthew 13:7). He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (Matthew 13:22). The ground covered with thistles represents the man or woman who hears the message of truth, but the cares and ways of the world and their longing for money choke out the Word of God, and they do less and less for God. Always making time for things of the world that please themselves, puff themselves up, always striving to make money, but never any time to study God's Word.
Jer 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Surrender your pride and evil ways and change your hearts.
Jer 4:5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities. Sound the alarm in the land and run for your lives! Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law. (Hosea 8:1). The enemy descends swift as an eagle like a large bird of prey. Why? The moral climate had plummeted. Lack of faith, murder, stealing, adultery, deceit, drunkenness and dishonesty in business etc. While there might be some differences between our condition today, the similarities are very familiar in today's society.
Jer 4:6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction. The standard is Christ. (Destruction will come from the north).
Jer 4:7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant. The lion: The king of Babylon is coming. (Were talking end times here). Your towns will lie in ruins and the people will be gone.
Jer 4:8 For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us. The anger of God is still upon the evil people. (He is not mad at you, if your following Him).
Jer 4:9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder. All had become corrupt since Josiah's day. (False prophets and teachers)! Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. (Acts 13:41). Despisers of the truth. I am going to do something in your day that you won't believe when you hear it. (Habakkuk 1:5-10). It's coming to this world today, so get ready.
Jer 4:10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul. Greatly deceived: Declaring that they would be deceived. i.e. by false prophets who prophesied peace. Who is it in the end times that comes in peacefully to deceive? Satan!
Jer 4:11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse, A dry wind: "False prophets with a "dry spirit" and no living water."
Jer 4:12 Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them. The time has come my friend and its going to happen.
Jer 4:13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled. What's the old saying? "Its going to be a bad day in hell."
Jer 4:14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee? i.e. Get your act together people. Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. (Matthew 12:33). A tree from a select variety produces good fruit; poor varieties don't. What trees were in the garden? The tree of "knowledge of good and evil" (Satan), and the "tree of life" (Christ). Don't be deceived or conned by people and false teachers. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. (Acts 8:22). Turn from your wickedness and repent and maybe God will forgive you. Again, get your act together.
Jer 4:15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim. They were the furthest north. (Ezekiel 38, 39), Look toward the north. (Dan and Ephraim). "The enemy will enter the land from the north."
Jer 4:16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah. Warn the surrounding nations. The false one (Satan), and his leadership is coming and the deception will be rampant.
Jer 4:17 As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD. They surround Jerusalem like watchmen around a field.
Jer 4:18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart. By your own actions, this was brought upon you. i.e. You let the deception slip in. (Proverbs 1:31).
Jer 4:19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. The very walls of my heart pound within me. Sound of the trumpet: Watch for the seventh trump when the Lord returns at the second advent.
Jer 4:20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment. The whole land will be spoiled. Tents spoiled: The tabernacles and houses of God.
Jer 4:21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet? How long will I hear the trumpets of war. (Remember the Christian standard is Christ).
Jer 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. My people are silly and stupid and have no understanding. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. (Hosea 4:6). This is what happens when you lack the truth in Gods Word and reject His knowledge.
Jer 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. Keep it up and this will happen again like at the beginning. When God destroyed the first earth age. Read our study topic titled: “The Three Earth Ages.”
Jer 4:24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I shook the whole earth once before.
Jer 4:25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. Destroyed everything, man and animals.
Jer 4:26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger. Total destruction! This same wrath will be poured out again in the end times. (Hebrews 12:26-29). "Its coming soon, so get right with God, and get ready."
Jer 4:27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end. The land will be ruined, but I will not destroy it completely.
Jer 4:28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it. "Its going to happen and nothing can change it."
Jer 4:29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein. Not one person remains: Referring to the enemy, those who do not have the standard of Christ. (Revelation 6:15-17).
Jer 4:30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life. Put for idolatrous Israel. (Like an idolatrous woman), don't follow her. (Revelation 17:2, 17:13, 17:16-18).
Jer 4:31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers. A cry like a woman in labor giving birth to her first child. It is Jerusalem gasping for breath and crying out for help. "I'm being murdered!"
Jeremiah 5
Jer 5:1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it. Find out for yourself, if you can find one just and honest person, I will not destroy the city. Sound familiar? Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? (Genesis 18:26-33).
Jer 5:2 And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely. They say one thing and mean another. (2 Timothy 3:5, Titus 1:16). No truth in them.
Jer 5:3 O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. "Set in their ways." They think what they are doing is right and refuse to repent.
Jer 5:4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God. Poor in spirit! They claim to be so religious, but they don't the truth. (Wrapped up in the ways of the world and traditions of men).
Jer 5:5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. Even your great men who should know better have walked away from the truth in Gods Word. (They don't know the true Father).
Jer 5:6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased. A lion: The king of Babylon (Satan himself, as the false messiah). Wolf of the evenings: Wolf Hebrew H2061 "zeb" to be yellow. Evenings Hebrew H6160 "arabah" people of the desert. (killing, recruiting, and spreading lies). Leopard: Hebrew H5246 "namer" to be limpid, to spot or stain. (A leopard can't change its spots). Mark of the kenites. (Genesis 4:16-18). Read our study topic titled "Sons of Cain."
Jer 5:7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses. When Christ returns, He expects us to be as a virgin bride (spiritually). Not a harlot who worships the false messiah. (Just as these people were worshipping false idol gods, many will be deceived in the end times because they don't have the truth). They will fall for the antichrist when he returns first pretending to be Christ.
Jer 5:8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife. Messing around with false teachings and the false Christ, like chasing around after their neighbors wife. (i.e. committing spiritual adultery).
Jer 5:9 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? God is not very happy with actions like this.
Jer 5:10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD'S. The false one is coming... Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD. (Amos 9:8). The Lord is watching this sinful nation of Israel. He will destroy it from the face of the earth, but He will not completely destroy the family of Israel. We are talking of the sinful kingdom (Satan's false kingdom), that will be destroyed.
Jer 5:11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD. False teachings that are not of the Lord. "They forgot about the living God." (Isaiah 48:8, Hosea 6:7).
Jer 5:12 They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine: They are so holier than thou, that they even lie to themselves and believe it. (Psalm 10:6).
Jer 5:13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them. Shall become: Speaking of the windbags of today. Those who say they are prophets, priests, and teachers of the Word. There is no truth in them! The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred. (Hosea 9:7). It is coming soon in the end times. The day of reckoning (Israel's punishment). Because of their great sin and hostility. Even the prophets have been deceived. (Ezekiel 14:9-10, 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12), God sends them strong delusion so that they will believe a lie. (Look around you today and see how many understand nothing about God Word, only what they hear from man).
Jer 5:14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. Because of these false prophets teachings, God will devour them. God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29).
Jer 5:15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say. "Babylon is coming." (This would be Iraq of today).
Jer 5:16 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men. Their weapons are deadly. (They destroy souls with false teachings and traditions of men).
Jer 5:17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword. They think they are safe but they are not. The whole economy will be destroyed by dealing with these people from foreign lands. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: (Habakkuk 3:17). Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; the olive crops fail and the fields lie empty; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty. (a double meaning here). One meaning could be referring to what would happen when the Babylonian invasion comes through the land and destroys it. The other meaning could be referring to us now when we just don't see any fruit. There is going to be times when it seems that the enemy (Satan), is stealing all our fruit.
Jer 5:18 Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you. "The remnant." Gods elect will always see the truth and broadcast it to the world. (They will remain true to the end).
Jer 5:19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours. You rejected the living God and gave yourselves to foreign gods in your own land. Now you will soon serve them in a land that is not your own.
Jer 5:20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying, Let it be known to Judah and Israel.
Jer 5:21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Listen up! You don't have a clue about what is going to happen. "You have eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear."
Jer 5:22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? "You have no respect for Me." I created everything for you, and can do anything I wish. "Still you have no respect for Me."
Jer 5:23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. Abandoned the true living God for false gods and false teachings. (They will even worship antichrist at his return). "You are going to see it come to pass my friend."
Jer 5:24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. Reference to: (Deuteronomy 11:13-14). God's harvest in the end times will be when the time is right.
Jer 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. Wickedness and sins will deprive you of all the wonderful blessings God has in store for you. (Don't miss the harvest).
Jer 5:26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. False teachers set traps for the people. False teachings that make you feel so good. (They tell you just what you want to hear). Misery loves company, and Satan is misery. (Psalm 10:9-10).
Jer 5:27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are getting rich off their false teachings. Always begging for money to support their false ministries, and the deceived people keep supporting them. (Teaching their church doctrine and traditions of men). Are you supporting a church or ministry that does not teach chapter by chapter the truth in Gods Word?
Jer 5:28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. They refuse to provide justice to orphans and deny the rights of the poor. "They shine and prosper in the world, but only care about themselves." (Psalm 73:12).
Jer 5:29 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? God will have His vengeance.
Jer 5:30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; A shocking thing has happened to this land.
Jer 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof? The prophets giving false prophecies and the priests rule with an iron hand. Worse yet, "the people like it that way." What will they do in the end times? For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. (2 Timothy 4:3). The time is here now when people won't listen to sound doctrine. They follow teachers that teach traditions on men and feed them whatever they want to hear to make them feel comfortable. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:4). They will reject the truth and chase after myths and traditions. How is your church doing?
Jeremiah 6
Jer 6:1 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction. Babylon is coming from the north.
Jer 6:2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman. Like a delicate girl. (Your helpless).
Jer 6:3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place. The evil shepherds will come and surround you, striping you clean. (Luke 19:43), future prophecy of the end times.
Jer 6:4 Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out. Prepare for a holy war. Attack at noon: In the heat of the day when most are resting. But wait... Its late and the end of the day is coming.
Jer 6:5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces. Well then, lets slip in at night and take over.
Jer 6:6 For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. The city is surrounded by engines of war. (No where to go).
Jer 6:7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds. Spouts evil like a fountain.
Jer 6:8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited. Your last warning!
Jer 6:9 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets. They are going to pick it clean.
Jer 6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. Who will listen? They harden their hearts and close their ears. "They won't listen at all." (Acts 7:51).
Jer 6:11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. Fed up and tired of holding back My wrath. "The fury is coming." (Revelation 16:1).
Jer 6:12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD. Your homes will be turned over to your enemies. You will lose your land and even your wives. Look at the people losing their jobs and homes today. (In most cases when you lose your home today, your going to lose your wife also, through divorce). Couples just don't stick together today during trouble times like they used to).
Jer 6:13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. A bunch of frauds ruled by greed, from prophets to priests. (Zephaniah 3:4, 2 Peter 2:1).
Jer 6:14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. "False security." Assurance of peace when there is no peace. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. (2 Peter 2:19). They promise you freedom, but they are slaves to sin and corruption themselves. Never let anyone put you into spiritual bondage. The truth of God's Word will always set you free. Beware of the tricks of Satan that he uses through pulpits.
Jer 6:15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. Not even ashamed of their disgusting acts. Why? Because they don’t even know what they are doing with their false teachings and traditions of men. Leave them alone. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (Matthew 15:14). "Ignore them." They are blind guides leading the blind, and both will fall into a ditch. (All we can do with people like this is to plan a seed. It is up to God if the seed takes or not).
Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Stop at the crossroads and look around. Choose the Godly path and walk in it (Colossians 2:6), not the ways of the world. (John 12:35, 13:17). Follow Christ to give you rest. (Matthew 11:28). However, they say "no thanks," its not the way we want.
Jer 6:17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. God sent us the prophets (a watchmen), and we did not listen. (Zechariah 7:11).
Jer 6:18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. "Listen up." Take note of my peoples situation.
Jer 6:19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. They reject the truth and listen to traditions of men. Gods law still stands. What law? The ten commandments.
Jer 6:20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me. I will not accept your offerings that look so holy and smell so sweet. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6). I don't want your burnt offerings, I want your love.
Jer 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish. What is the stumbling block? As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. (Romans 9:33). God warned them before. "I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall." But, anyone who trusts in Him will never be ashamed. (Isaiah 8:14-15, 28:16, Matthew 21:42), Trust in "Our Rock" who is "Jesus Christ" and you will never be disgraced. (They go after the false Christ and ignore the true Christ).
Jer 6:22 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth. A great army from the north. (Babylon is coming). Future prophecy: The two last battles, Hamon-gog and Armageddon. (Ezekiel 39:11).
Jer 6:23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion. Their coming to destroy. Part of Isaiah's vision. (Isaiah 5:28-30).
Jer 6:24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail. We have heard the reports about the enemy. The apostle Paul would give this warning. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (1 Thessalonians 5:3). Those who are saying everything is quite well and peaceful along with the misled and ignorant, will not escape. Destruction will fall upon them suddenly. Who will bring in this cry for peace and safety? The one world order and one world religious system. (We are coming close to a new age).
Jer 6:25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side. Terror will be round about.
Jer 6:26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us. People will be morning and weeping for their loss when the destroying army comes upon them! What are we to do as true Christians during this time? Put on the gospel armor! (Ephesians 6:10-17). Keep in mind that we are in a spiritual war against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. "Get ready."
Jer 6:27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way. God speaking to Jeremiah; "I have made you like a tester of metals, that you can test the hearts of the people."
Jer 6:28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. There hearts are as hard as iron and lead others into corruption.
Jer 6:29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away. Their wickedness remains and they are rejected, just like the slag in refined metal.
Jer 6:30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them. I will label them like rejected silver, and will discard them. "It has come to pass, just as it was written." My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations. (Hosea 9:17). God would reject the people of Israel because they would not listen or obey. They would be wonderers and homeless among the nations. (Amos 9:9), To the tribes that were scattered abroad. (James 1:1), many of them do not know who they are, as the lost tribes of Israel went north over the caucus mountains into Europe and the Americas.
Jeremiah 7
Jer 7:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Another message from the Father to Jeremiah.
Jer 7:2 Stand in the gate of the LORD'S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD. Listen to what the Lord says.
Jer 7:3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Change your ways and stop the evil things you do, and I will let you stay in the land. (James 4:8).
Jer 7:4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. Forget the temple and worship God. You need to put your trust in God, not some building. (Look at all the things from man people put their trust in today). Man will always let you down.
Jer 7:5 For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; Stop your evil thoughts and deeds. Be fair to one another and treat each other with justice. (Treat others like you want to be treated).
Jer 7:6 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: You exploit foreigners and the poor and you shed innocent blood. You just harm yourselves worshipping worthless idols. (This is what the people were doing and they still do it today).
Jer 7:7 Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. Change your ways and you can stay in the land of your ancestors.
Jer 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. Just because they had a fancy building they thought no one could harm them. The problem was that they were listening to false teachings and lies. What is being taught in your church is more important than what your church may look like. To many churches today are more like country clubs than houses of worship.
Jer 7:9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; You can't do all these evil things and think you are right with God.
Jer 7:10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? You come to My house of worship and think this makes all things right, then you go out and sin again. (Matthew 23:14), Christ calls them hypocrites.
Jer 7:11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD. You even admit yourselves that My temple has become a den of thieves. This should remind you of why Christ cleansed the Temple. (Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17, Luke 19:45-46, John 2:16). Like many churches today who rip you off for the word, but are still always begging for money.
Jer 7:12 But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. What happened at Shiloh? God allowed the ark of the covenant to be captured, and Shiloh was wiped out. (1 Samuel 4:3-4, 1 Samuel 4:10-11).
Jer 7:13 And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not; I spoke to you, but you would not listen. (How many people today have the truth right in front of them, but they refuse to search it out). "Pure laziness." (Matthew 23:37).
Jer 7:14 Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh. He did it to Shiloh, and He can do it to Jerusalem. Its going to happen just as it is written. (Matthew 24:1-2).
Jer 7:15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim. I will send you out of My sight into exile. God did it before to the ten northern tribes. (Jeremiah 3:8), God gave Israel a bill of divorcement.
Jer 7:16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee. Don't waste your time praying for these people because I will not listen.
Jer 7:17 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? Look today and see what is going on over there.
Jer 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. The men build sacrificial fires and the women make cakes to offer to the "queen of heaven." (Jeremiah 19:13, 44:19). Their making God angry with their false idol worship. Who is this queen of heaven? This title refers to "Ishtar," an Assyrian and Babylonian goddess also called "Ashtoreth" (2 Kings 21:3, 23:13), known as "Astarte" by various other groups. Worshipped by women of that ere as a fertility goddess. Worship of this queen of heaven was rampant among pagan civilizations. Sadly, it became popular among the Israelites as well. Others believe that Mary (the mother of Jesus), is the queen of heaven. However, there is no scriptural basis whatsoever, stemming instead from proclamations of priests and popes of the Roman Catholic church. There is no real queen of heaven (only false gods and idols), and our Heavenly Father does not like idol worship. The only biblical reference to the "queen of heaven" refers to the goddess of an idolatrous, false religion. If you are going to worship someone, lets keep it real and worship The Lord God (Adonai Yahveh), for our God is the living God of the bible.
Jer 7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? Their not hurting God, they only hurt themselves with this kind on behavior and put themselves in confusion. (Isaiah 45:16, Daniel 9:7-8).
Jer 7:20 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched. Think God is angry? Yes... It’s coming. The time of God’s wrath in the end times. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10). Be on guard and know the season for His return, when all evil (all the wicked & rudiments), will be burned up. Judgment Day!
Jer 7:21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh. Take those burnt offerings and sacrifices and eat them yourselves. God doesn't want them. (Amos 5:21-23).
Jer 7:22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: I never wanted your burn offerings and sacrifices. Even today... What is with people that go through all these religious rituals to try and please God? Oh yea, it looks real holy, but has no effect. All God wants is your love. (Hosea 6:6).
Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. Obey Gods commandments, study the Word, and walk in it. That is what God wants us to do. (Romans 16:26, 2 Corinthians 10:5, Hebrews 5:9).
Jer 7:24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. The people would not listen and went backwards with their teachings instead of forward.
Jer 7:25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: I sent the prophets that rose up early in the morning and you did not listen. There is more to getting up early in the morning, than just having your coffee. Jesus would get up early in the morning for prayer. (Mark 1:35). God can speak to you with clarity early in the morning. (Put Him first in your day, and everything else should follow).
Jer 7:26 Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers. Things just got worse and worse. (Acts 7:51).
Jer 7:27 Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee. You can tell them all this, but don't expect them to listen. Blinded by the truth because they would not listen. (John 12:40). Others blinded by the gods of this world. (2 Corinthians 4:4). Who is the god of this world? Satan!
Jer 7:28 But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth. No truth in then any longer. (Hosea 4:1). Look around today and you will see that they try to take God out of everything.
Jer 7:29 Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath. Speaking of the daughters of My people. (Daughters of Jerusalem). Speaking of the generation of the fig tree. (Matthew 23:36, Acts 2:40).
Jer 7:30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it. Set up their idols right in the middle of Gods Temple. "Wow." You will see it today in many churches.
Jer 7:31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart. Topheth (burning), was a garbage dump in the valley of Ben-Hinnom, also know as Gehenna. (2 Kings 23:10, Isaiah 30:33). "A symbol of hell itself."
Jer 7:32 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place. No more burning. It will be called the valley of slaughter.
Jer 7:33 And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away. Won't even be buried and will be food for the vultures. (A lot of people will die not only a physical death, but a spiritual death as well). And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; (Revelation 19:17). A feast for the birds of the earth. That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (Revelation 19:18). Again, this is for the enemies of God. When the seventh trump sounds, we are changed to our spirit bodies. Zechariah 14:12, gives a good explanation of what happens to the flesh at this time.
Jer 7:34 Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate. The land will become totally desolate because of the desolator. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Revelation 9:27). This prince (anti-Christ), will make a seven-year treaty with the people, but after half that time, he will break his pledge and stop all the sacrifices. (The daily offering or communion). He will defile the sanctuary of God as the desolator (an entity). (Mark 13:14-26). This seven years will be shortened to five months, as stated in Revelation 9, for the elects sake.
Jeremiah 8
Jer 8:1 At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves: They: The enemy, will break open the graves of those responsible for the corruption and apostasy.
Jer 8:2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. Their bones will be spread out on the ground (the graves defiled), before the the gods they served and worshipped. (Form of degradation or abomination to the Jews).
Jer 8:3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts. The people of this nation who survive (the residue), wish to die rather than live where the Lord will send them. As it will be in the end times. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (Revelation 9:6). They will want to die because they are ashamed for following Satan and his lies. Death flees them because death is about to be destroyed at the seventh trump.
Jer 8:4 Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return? When most people fall down they get back up. These people find out they have been deceived, they don't turn back. (Proverbs 24:16, Hosea 7:10).
Jer 8:5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. They won't learn from their mistakes, they just keep sticking to false teachings and idolatrous ways.
Jer 8:6 I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle. Not one of them looking for the truth. Charging to follow false religion. Why? They listen to man instead of God. (They act like their pastors and priests are gods). Always check out what you are being taught with the Word of God and forget what man says.
Jer 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. Even the birds are smart enough to return at the proper time, but not My people.
Jer 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain. Pen of the scribes: Who were the false scribes? For many years the kenites did the scribes for Judah. (I Chronicles 2:55), they put in any changes they wanted. (They twisted the Word just like Satan does).
Jer 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? These so called wise teachers had no wisdom in them at all. They rejected the truth and will fall into a trap of their own foolishness.
Jer 8:10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. Their lives are ruled by greed. Even the prophets and priests are frauds. (2 Peter 2:1-3).
Jer 8:11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. They tell you everything will be alright, but there will be no peace.
Jer 8:12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. They are not even ashamed of their disgusting actions. They will be brought down in the time of visitation. A time is coming soon when Christ will return to cleanse the house of God. (Luke 19:43-48). Christ will straighten out all the false teachings changed by the scribes of old, and so-called scholars of today.
Jer 8:13 I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them. I will strip them bare. "No more harvest for them." This is why Christ wilted the fig tree. (He was speaking of this generation, the generation of the fig tree).
Jer 8:14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD. Why should we hang here when God is going to destroy us? Lets go to the fortified cities and find safety there. Gall to drink: "rosh rosh," H7219, Hebrew word for poison or, the poppy plant. "To much of this type of poison is polluting our society today." (Every war we have been in, brings more Heroine to this country than any other resource).
Jer 8:15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! Hoped for peace, but there will be no peace, only terror. (1 Thessalonians 5:3).
Jer 8:16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein. The Assyrian at that time came from the north, but in the end time, there will be others that come from the far north.
Jer 8:17 For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD. I will send the serpents and scorpions among you. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. (Revelation 9:19). The only power they have because they follow the serpent. Satan! They will hurt when they lie to you. (Full of deception). Did you ever have someone lie to you just to find out later? It hurts, doesn't it? Ecc 10:11 Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better. (Ecclesiastes 10:11). If your a believer, watch so you don't get bit by false teachings. A good babbler can lead their pray right into destruction. (Proverbs 18:21).
Jer 8:18 When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me. My grief is beyond healing and my heart is broken.
Jer 8:19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities? Speaking of the ten tribes taken to Babylon. Has the Lord abandon us?
Jer 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. The harvest finished and the summer gone. "To late." (Proverbs 10:5).
Jer 8:21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. I mourn and am overcome with grief.
Jer 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? The words of the prophet, showing that the healing remedies were employed; thus accounting for the silence respecting them. (Isaiah 1:6). Kind of like the song, "sounds of silence." (The words of the prophet were written on the subway walls). "Spiritually wounded but just ignore it."
Jeremiah 9
Jer 9:1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people! Jeremiah weeps for those who were slaughtered.
Jer 9:2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. Jeremiah just wants to get away from all the wickedness. Bunch of idolaters who worship anything that come along. (Zephaniah 3:4, Malachi 2:11).
Jer 9:3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD. Just like a bow bends when you shoot an arrow, they bend the truth and shoot out lies from their mouths. (They don't stand for truth).
Jer 9:4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. Beware of your friends and neighbor and don't even trust your own brother. Your own family members will deliver you up. (Matthew 10:21, Mark 13:12, Luke 21:16). (i.e. Don't trust anyone). "Trust in God only."
Jer 9:5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. They were themselves out with their sinning. (Don't listen to false teachers).
Jer 9:6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD. No truth in them at all, they don't know the Lord. (They will feed you anything you want to hear to make you feel secure as long as you keep paying your tithes).
Jer 9:7 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? Separate the slag from the precious metal.
Jer 9:8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait. Their tongues are like poison arrows. They talk holy but are scheming in their hearts. (Psalm 12:2, 64:3-4).
Jer 9:9 Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? Judgment is coming through the Babylonian war. Judgment is coming upon us. (2 Peter 3:9-10), God wants all of them to come to repentance, but they won’t.
Jer 9:10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone. Habitation used here is Hebrew H4999 "naah" meaning pasture, house, pleasant place. "They have all dried up." Spiritually speaking; they have no food for the spirit. When you are not fed the truth, you dry up from starvation. What is the famine of the end times? Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. (Amos 8:11). That famine for hearing the Word of the Lord is upon us now. People are starving for the truth in the Word, not a bunch of fairy tales, false teachings and traditions of men that are taught by many churches today.
Jer 9:11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant. When Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem, it was wiped out. It will happen again in the end times.
Jer 9:12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through? What is the reason this will happen? Because there is no truth in them and they are spiritually dead. (Hosea 14:9, Psalm 107:34). (Again, the famine of the end times is for hearing the truth in the Word of God).
Jer 9:13 And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein; Refused to obey the instructions of the Lord. (Jeremiah 7:23).
Jer 9:14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them: Instead of following instruction from the Lord, they follow their own desires and worship the images of Baal. (Just as their ancestors taught them). Just because you were raised in a certain religion, does not mean you need to stay in that religion. Especially if they follow traditions of men, church doctrine, and teachings that are not biblical. Don't remain in bondage to some religious group when you have a personal letter written to you by the Heavenly Father, "The Bible."
Jer 9:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. Bitterness and poison to drink. Again, gall is poppy juice and poison. These people would go through bitter times with the Babylonian captivity. Babylon is coming! (Revelation 8:11). What about you? Don't go through bitter times because you have been deceived. Check out God's Word and set yourself free from all the bondage.
Jer 9:16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them. God scattered the ten lost tribes for a purpose. (Zechariah 7:14). They would not listen.
Jer 9:17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come: Mourning women: Those whose office it was to sing mournful dirges, and make public lamentations at funerals. (I have heard of professional singers, but these women were professional mourners).
Jer 9:18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters. Quick! Start the weeping! Let the phony tears flow from your eyes. (They hired these women to make a bunch of noise at the funeral, and it appears that the more noise they made, the more they loved the person). I wonder if that would be a lucrative business today? "The Mourners Five." (Just jesting a little). The point is, that the time is coming when the majority of good Christian people will follow the anti-Christ in the end times. Then they will realize they made a big mistake. (The weeping will really begin then).
Jer 9:19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out. Confused and humiliated and had to leave the land. (Many will be confused in the end times, just look around).
Jer 9:20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation. You better teach your daughters how to wail, because I am going to give you something to wail about. (Luke 23:27-30).
Jer 9:21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets. Death has crept into their homes. Pulling the children from the Word of God. (Spiritually dead).
Jer 9:22 Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them. Spiritually dead bodies everywhere. And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. (Zepahniah 1:17). Because you have sinned against the Lord, you will grope around like the blind. Your blood will be poured into the dust, and your bodies will lie rotting on the ground.
Jer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: Wisdom, power, riches. (Three things men and women love to boast about). "I call it the trinity of the worldly." Lets review them one at a time. Wisdom: (Romans 1:22, 1 Corinthians 1:19-21, 1:27-29). Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. (1 Corinthians 3:18). For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. (1 Corinthians 3:19). And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. (1 Corinthians 3:20). Power: Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself. (Amos 2:14). The strong among you will become weak. Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. (Amos 2:15). Even the archers will not stand their ground. And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD. (Amos 2:16). It happened before and it will happen again in the end times. Riches: (Proverbs 11:4, Zephaniah 1:18). And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! (Mark 10:24). What Jesus said amazed the disciples, and it should amaze us also. Then He said; "Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God." Your trust is to be in God, not your riches. (He who dies with the most toys really loses). For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10). The love of money and worldly wealth is the first step to all kinds of sin. Always worrying about money because they never have enough. Some have even turned away from God because of it, and because of it, they will have many sorrows.
Jer 9:24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. Let these people boast alone with their things of the world. These are the things I like, say the Lord. Loving Kindness, judgment and righteousness. "This is what will get you into Heaven." You need to know God and the truth in His Word. (John 17:3, 1 John 5:20).
Jer 9:25 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised; All will be treated equal, Jew or Gentile. (Galatians 5:2-6).
Jer 9:26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart. They all act like the Gentiles. The Jews may have been circumcised, but not in their hearts. "Circumcision is to be of the heart." (Romans 2:28-29).
Jeremiah 10
Jer 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Listen up Israel!
Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. Do not act like the heathen nations who try and read their future in the stars. (Don't be afraid of their predictions).
Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They make their little idol out of a tree and worship it.
Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. Looks good and is secured by nails so it won't fall down. (The idol has no power and can't stand on it's own).
Jer 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Nothing to these little idols and false gods.
Jer 10:6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. If you are going to worship, make it the living God, not some piece of wood or plaster. (Nothing like the real thing, our Heavenly Father).
Jer 10:7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. Words quoted in "the song of Moses and the Lamb." (Revelation 15:3-4). There is no other God like ours.
Jer 10:8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. People who worship idols made of wood and stone are foolish and stupid. (They can't do anything for them).
Jer 10:9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. Dress these gods in silver and gold and royal blue and purple robes. (Psalm 115:4). "They look so holy." I can never figure out why people today will pray to a statue when they have the living God to help them.
Jer 10:10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. "He is the living God." (Psalm 42:2, 84:2, Matthew 16:16, 1 Timothy 6:17). "The everlasting King." (Psalm 10:16, Daniel 4:3, 1 Timothy 1:17). The nations will not stand His wrath. (Malachi 3:2).
Jer 10:11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. This verse was written in pure Aramaic because it was the language of the merchants. It was also the language of the people worshipping these false idols. "Only verse in Jeremiah that was written in this language." (These false idol gods will vanish from the earth just like Satan).
Jer 10:12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. Power, wisdom, and understanding. "Attributes of our Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit."
Jer 10:13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. Our God is a powerful God, when He speaks you will know it. (He controls the Heavens and the Earth).
Jer 10:14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. These people of the earth are foolish and will be disgraced by worshipping these things made of man. (Spiritually dead as a door nail).
Jer 10:15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. These idols are worthless and ridiculous lies. In the day of the Lord they will all be destroyed.
Jer 10:16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name. Our God is no idol, He is real. His name is the Lord of Hosts. Father of the twelve tribes of Israel. (Isaiah 54:5). "Savior of the world."
Jer 10:17 Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress. Get ready to pack your bags and leave. "Satan is going to set up camp there when he returns." (Matthew 24:13).
Jer 10:18 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so. When you don't listen to God's warning, troubles will come upon you.
Jer 10:19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it. Zion now speaks in view of the coming deportation. (When the Babylonians come). Jeremiah voices the calamity.
Jer 10:20 My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains. The children scattered and taken away.
Jer 10:21 For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. The shepherds lost their senses and no longer seek wisdom from the Lord. The flocks will be deceived and scattered. (You will see it today, called the great apostasy). A falling away from the church because of false teachings and traditions of men.
Jer 10:22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons. Babylon is coming! The enemy coming down from the north. The towns of Judah will be destroyed. (Jeremiah 6:22, 9:11). (i.e. The false Christ is coming).
Jer 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. We are not able to plan our own course. (Proverbs 20:24).
Jer 10:24 O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Give us a fair shot and be gentle. Do not correct us in anger. (Psalm 38:1). "God is always fair, and we all get what is coming to us, good or bad."
Jer 10:25 Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate. Pour out your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you. (Psalm 79:6, 2 Thessalonians 1:8). The land will be a desolate wilderness. (Prophecy for the end times).
Jeremiah 11
Jer 11:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, A special word that came from the Lord.
Jer 11:2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem; Remind those who live in Jerusalem about the terms of the covenant. The old covenant of Exodus had been specially renewed by Judah in Jeremiah's days, under Josiah, in his eighteenth year. (2 Kings 23:1-3).
Jer 11:3 And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant, Cursed to those who do not obey the terms of My covenant. (Obey God and you don't need to worry).
Jer 11:4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God: Obey Me and you will be My people and I will be your God. (Love Him and follow His commandments by living right). God loves His children when they try their best to live right. (Do the best with what you have). Here is the new covenant we need to keep. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people. (Hebrews 8:10). This is the new covenant with the people says the Lord! "I will put My laws in their minds and in their hearts, and will be their God and they will be My people."
Jer 11:5 That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD. A land flowing with milk and honey. Reference to: (Exodus 3:8-17).
Jer 11:6 Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them. Remember the ancient covenant, and do everything it requires. (John 13:17, Romans 2:13, James 1:22), i.e. "Be a doer, not just a Hearer."
Jer 11:7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice. I have warned the people over and over to "Obey Me!" They were warned by the prophets, warned by the apostles, and warned by Chris Himself over and over. No excuses! Especially today; the Word is right in front of you if you want it, take it in and bring it forth.
Jer 11:8 Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not. They did not listen and stubbornly followed their own evil desires. For this I brought forth all the curses described in this covenant.
Jer 11:9 And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. There is a conspiracy against Me among the people of Judah and Jerusalem. (Keep in mind the good and bad figs). There is always some kind of conspiracy going on in today's world. "Don't get caught up in them."
Jer 11:10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers. Israel and Judah have both broken My covenant by worshipping other gods. (Hosea 6:7, Hosea 8:1, Hebrews 8:9).
Jer 11:11 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them. I will bring evil upon them and though they beg for mercy, I will not listen to their cries. Just like in the end time He will not listen to those who follow the anti-Christ. (They should know better). “It’s coming soon my friend.”
Jer 11:12 Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble. They will pray to their idols and false god, but they will not save them. Even people today worship almost anything. (a statue, a priest, a rock-star).
Jer 11:13 For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal. You set up altars of shame and burning incense to your false god. (Look around today and see how many churches operate with their rituals).
Jer 11:14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble. Forget these people Jeremiah. Don’t weep for them, because I will not listen to them. (They ignore the living God and follow the false god).
Jer 11:15 What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest. They have no right to come to My temple when they have done so many immoral things. They rejoice in doing evil! (Proverbs 2:14). People today love to boast about their evil doings. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. (James 4:16). When you brag about your own plans, this never pleases God.
Jer 11:16 The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken. Olive tree: The symbol of Israel's religious privileges. (Judges 9:8-12).
Jer 11:17 For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal. A green olive tree planted by the heavens they have destroyed.
Jer 11:18 And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings. Jeremiah was warned by the Lord.
Jer 11:19 But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered. Let’s destroy this man and the Word. "Jeremiah the prophet was type of Christ if you will." (Isaiah 53:8).
Jer 11:20 But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause. How long is this going to go on. Let me see your vengeance against those who want to kill me.
Jer 11:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand: The men of Anathoth are saying to Jeremieh. Stop what you are doing, prophesying in the Lord’s name, or we will kill you. (Anathoth was a place where preachers dwell). Looking so holy, but just a bunch of hypocrites. (You see plenty of them today).
Jer 11:22 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine: Look around today... Not only are young men dying in war, but people are starving for the truth. (Amos 8:11), the famine of the end times.
Jer 11:23 And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation. God promises that the men of Anathoth (the preachers), will be destroyed because of their opposition to Jeremiah. The same will happen in the end times to those who oppose the truth.
Jeremiah 12
Jer 12:1 Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? Here comes a couple questions from Jeremiah about how unfair life is. Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy? They may prosper and seem happy in this world because this world is of the devil. Live worldly and you will and you will pay later. (Read Psalm 37, and you will see what happens to these people). The wicked will not get ahead.
Jer 12:2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins. Yes, they seem like they get ahead, but God is not with them. "Their hearts are far from God." (Matthew 15:8, Titus 1:16). (Keep in mind that the prince they follow in this world is Satan). He is the "ruler of this world." (John 12:31). Satan is also called the "prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:2). Follow the ways of the world and you will end up in trouble.
Jer 12:3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter. Separate me from these people and get rid of them. (It will happen in the end times, and He will get rid of them if they do not repent and turn to the ways of God).
Jer 12:4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end. Even the land mourns because of the evil in the land. (Mother nature is not happy with us today and she will show it).
Jer 12:5 If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan? i.e. If man deceives you, how much easier will it be for Satan to deceive you. (Don't listen to a bunch of bible thumpers who teach traditions of men only to deceive you). Satan is coming soon to deceive as many as he can, so you need to get the truth in you, or you won't stand a chance. (Ephesians 6:10-17).
Jer 12:6 For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee. They sound so holy, but they have turned against you. Don’t trust them no matter how pleasant they speak. Even your own family will turn against you and deliver you up to anti-Christ. (Matthew 10:21). Why would your own family do that? "Because they have been deceived and do not know better." (Look how families are split today in beliefs). One believes this way and another believes another way. If you have a family that all believes in the truth of His Word and is not deceived by false teachings and traditions of men, you are very lucky.
Jer 12:7 I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies. Reference to (Luke 21:24). And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. (Luke 21:24). It will come to pass as it is written. (Revelation 11:2).
Jer 12:8 Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it. They try to take God out of everything, just as they do today. (Take God out of the equation and things begin to fall apart).
Jer 12:9 Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour. My chosen people act like vultures, but they are surrounded like vultures themselves. (One around every corner).
Jer 12:10 Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. They have trampled My vineyard and the pastors join in and let it happen. (Just follow our doctrine and trust in us). Do not be deceived by teachers like this.
Jer 12:11 They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart. The whole land empty and desolate to the truth because of false teachers like this. (No one even cares and the people let it happen). Just keep feeding them the money and they will keep feeding you what you want to hear.
Jer 12:12 The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace. Babylon is coming, and so is the great tribulation! (Matthew 24:21-22). The Sword of the Lord is the true Word of God. He will set the record straight at His return in the end times.
Jer 12:13 They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD. They will harvest shame for what they have done. (Romans 6:21). (The wrath of God is coming)! However, do not worry if you are in Christ and teach the truth of the Word. This wrath is just for the false ones who are out to deceive you.
Jer 12:14 Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them. I will uproot all the evil nations trying to get Judah for their own. I will uproot Judah from among them.
Jer 12:15 And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. Each nation will be put back where they belong to its own possession.
Jer 12:16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people. Speaking of the gentiles here. Given a place among My people. (Revelation 21:20-24).
Jer 12:17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD. However, any nation who refuses to obey God will be destroyed! In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (2 Thessalonians 1:8). Taking vengeance on those against God and those who follow Satan. (Their choice).
Keep The Faith,Barton
