Jeremiah 13
Jer 13:1 Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water. Girdle: Hebrew H232 "ezor" a belt, band, loincloth. Put on a belt and do not wash it. Girt your loins with the belt of truth. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14). We are to take a stand with the "belt of truth," and be ready with the full armor of God.
Jer 13:2 So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins. Listened to the instruction from God.
Jer 13:3 And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, Another important message from the Lord.
Jer 13:4 Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock. Euphrates: On the road to Babylon.
Jer 13:5 So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me. Jeremiah did as the Lord instructed.
Jer 13:6 And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there. After a while Jeremiah was instructed to go and get the loincloth.
Jer 13:7 Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing. The loincloth was rotting and falling apart.
Jer 13:8 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Here comes the message and the lesson.
Jer 13:9 Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem. This shows how I will rot away the pride of Judah and Jerusalem. (Zephaniah 3:11, Luke 18:14, James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5).
Jer 13:10 This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. Worship other gods and they are good for nothing. (Idolatry). When you pray to anyone other than God Himself, you are committing idolatry.
Jer 13:11 For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear. The lesson here is that a (belt or loincloth), is to cling to a man's waist. (The belt of truth in the Word). Judah and Israel were cling to the Lord and be His people, bringing honor and glory to His name. However, they did not listen. "They were stubborn and had no truth in them." (Psalm 78:8, Acts 7:51).
Jer 13:12 Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine? They will be filled with wine and the people will get real drunk. (The peoples interpretation).
Jer 13:13 Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness. This is what the Lord means: "Everyone in the land will be in a drunken stupor." (Confusion)!
Jer 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them. The people will be in confusion (Babylon is coming and means confusion). The people will be like in a drunken stupor. Prophecy for the end times for all those who have been deceived. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. (Matthew 10:21). Who is death? (Hebrews 2:14). Christ died to destroy death, which is the devil. Your own friends and family may deliver you up to Satan in the synagogues. Why? Because they are in confusion (a drunken stupor), and think he is Christ, but he is really the antichrist. (the one who comes first pretending to be Christ).
Jer 13:15 Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken. Pay attention to what I say. "The Lord has spoken." Don't be so arrogant and proud.
Jer 13:16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. Wake up and give Glory to the Lord before it is to late. Acknowledge Him and come out of darkness. "Only confusion and darkness will cause you to stumble." Jesus Christ is the "light of the world" and you better follow Him, or you will just find darkness and gloom.
Jer 13:17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD'S flock is carried away captive. God feels just like we do, and when He looks down at us today, His eyes are flowing with tears. Why? Because so many people are being deceived, put into bondage and confused. Come out of Babylon (confusion), and get into the truth of the Word. He is not mad at you if you have been deceived, just don't stay that way. (He is mad at the false priests, pastors, and teachers who do the deceiving). "Judgment begins at the pulpit." (1 Peter 4:17).
Jer 13:18 Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory. Those who are so high and mighty better get of their high horses, or they will be brought down and their crowns will be snatched from their heads. (Matthew 18:4, James 4:10).
Jer 13:19 The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive. The gates are closed and no one will be able to open them. The people of Judah will be carried away as captives.
Jer 13:20 Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock? Open your eyes and see the enemy coming from the north. (In the end times, the locust army comes from the north).
Jer 13:21 What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail? You take the gentile nations and appoint them as your rulers. You trained them and put them in charge over you.
Jer 13:22 And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, andthy heels made bare. How did this happen? He will allow the enemy to take you over because He caught you in the very act idolatry.
Jer 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. A leopard can't change its spots, and you can't change your evil ways.
Jer 13:24 Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness. I will scatter you like chaff blown in the wind.
Jer 13:25 This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood. You would rather listen to man instead of Me. (A bunch a false teachers and hypocrites).
Jer 13:26 Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear. They will be so ashamed that they cannot even face Christ when He returns. In the end times they will seek death but not find it. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (Revelation 9:6). They will want to die because they are ashamed for following Satan and his lies. Death flees them because death is about to be destroyed at the seventh trump.
Jer 13:27 I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be? Spiritually chase everything that comes along. Idol worship! "How long before you are pure?"
Jeremiah 14
Jer 14:1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth. Explained why He would hold back the rain. Especially the latter rain for truth in the end times. Why? Because of false teachings and traditions of men. We are in the end times of the later rain now my friend. However, the truth is being brought forth by Christian teachers (the real deal), who stand for the truth.
Jer 14:2 Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up. Starving for the truth, but none in them.
Jer 14:3 And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads. Sent the servants to find water, but there was none. (Christ is the living water we need to drink from).
Jer 14:4 Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads. The ground is parched and dried up from lack of rain. Just as your mind will become dried up from lack of truth.
Jer 14:5 Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass. Just as the doe abandons her new born because there is no grass in the field to feed on. Today we have priests and pastors who abandon the flock because they have no truth to feed them. Hung up on church doctrine and traditions of men.
Jer 14:6 And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass. The people are confused and starving for the truth.
Jer 14:7 O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee. The people just keep sinning and sinning and turn further from the Lord. Everyone today has something else to do to keep them busy. No time to search for the truth, they want everything handed to them.
Jer 14:8 O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man thatturneth aside to tarry for a night? If you are a stranger to God it is your fault. God does not ignore His children when they are doing right.
Jer 14:9 Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not. They call themselves Christian, but then they blame God if He abandons them for following false teachings.
Jer 14:10 Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins. Reference to the ten lost tribes that went north to settle in Europe and America.
Jer 14:11 Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. The Lord told Jeremiah not to pray for these people anymore, or ask Me to bless them.
Jer 14:12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence. Fasting is to deny the flesh and draw near to God. These people like many today make fasting and prayer a ritual. It's a big show and their hearts are not really in it. They think because of their rituals, that God owes them something. Well, it looks real holy to the people, but God will not accept them. "God will consume them in the end times." Remember, God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29).
Jer 14:13 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. Their prophets lie to them. "False teachings." (2 Peter 2:1).
Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. They lie in Gods name. They dream up false teachings and prophecy's that the Lord never gave them. They speak foolishness made up in their own hearts. The worst part is that they want you to pay for this; always begging for money to further their ministry of lies. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-11).
Jer 14:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed. Again, God is a consuming fire. (Judgment begins at the pulpit). If the priests, pastors, and teachers are not teaching the truth, they are in a lot of trouble with the Lord.
Jer 14:16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them. They will eat the fruit of their own way. (Proverbs 1:31). And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. (Revelation 16:1). The vials that are filled with the wrath of God will be focused upon the earth.
Jer 14:17 Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow. What is Jeremiah saying here? Christ returns with a rod of iron. He expects you to be like a virgin bride. Not one who whores around with the anti-Christ.
Jer 14:18 If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not. The priests and the prophets don’t know what they are talking about. They look and sound so holy with their church doctrine, false teachings, and traditions of men. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (2 Peter 2:3). They think up clever lies and twist the truth of the Word to make it fit your way of thinking, so they can get a hold of your money. "Their time is coming." (Do not be deceived)! Satan’s biggest deception is false teachings, just as he tempted Christ with the Word. (Matthew 4:1-11).
Jer 14:19 Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble! They cry peace, but there will be no peace. (1 Thessalonians 5:3).
Jer 14:20 We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee. "Were guilty." We know that we have sinned against you. We all need to admit we sin and confess our sins to God; "not some man." (1 John 1:7-9).
Jer 14:21 Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us. What covenant? (Jeremiah 7:23-24). You can’t take God out of the equation like they did. They walked in their own ways, not the ways of God. God makes a new covenant with Israel (all Israel), yes that means with you, and all His children. (Hebrews 8:6-13).
Jer 14:22 Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things. Their pagan idols can’t bring anything. Only God can bring the later rain. (The true "Word of God" is the later rain).
Jeremiah 15
Jer 15:1 Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. Moses and Samuel were two of the greatest intercessors and God would not listen to them. "Get these people out of My sight."
Jer 15:2 And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity. It is up to you to chose life or death, war or peace, food or famine, bondage or freedom. These people are going to be taken to Babylon and judgment.
Jer 15:3 And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy. Reference to the four stages of the locust and the beast system: And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. (Revelation 6:8). We are speaking here of the "Beast System" that looks so religious, but is controlled by Satan. (Remember that Satan represents death).
Jer 15:4 And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem. Manasseh (causing to forget), was a bad dude. (2 Kings 21:11-13). This guy shed a lot of blood in Jerusalem. (2 Kings 24:3-4). Many scholars believe that Ephraim and Manasseh represent the United States and Britain in the end times.
Jer 15:5 For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest? Who will feel sorry for you? No one will even ask how you are.
Jer 15:6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. You claim you repent but go right back to sinning. (No more chances, God is tired of it).
Jer 15:7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways. I will scatter the children like chaff in the wind. (They just won't change their evil ways). Just like today, everyone has a way to justify their worldly ways.
Jer 15:8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city. Babylon is coming. Nebuchadnezzar coming across the Euphrates. End time reference: Satan being the new terror of the future and he will show up unexpectedly. (Luke 21:35).
Jer 15:9 She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD. She that hath: She that hath had a numerous offspring, Jerusalem, the mother city, the parent of so many cities, villages, and families in the land. (She gives up and will be destroyed by the enemy).
Jer 15:10 Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me. Jeremiah saying here that he never lends or borrows, but he is still hated everywhere he goes. "If you teach the truth in the Word without all the church doctrine and traditions of men, many will not like you." (Your stepping on many preachers toes). "You might even be hated and delivered up." (Matthew 24:9). Just let it roll off your shoulder and pray for them. (Matthew 5:44).
Jer 15:11 The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. God always takes care of His own. When a man's ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7). "This is so true." (No need to worry about the enemy).
Jer 15:12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel? You can’t stop the king of Babylon coming from the north, but he cannot hurt you. (Reference to Satan in the end times).
Jer 15:13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. Your wealth and treasures will be handed over to the enemy. End time prophecy reference when the monetary system will fail. (It's coming soon).
Jer 15:14 And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you. Judgment is coming! God's anger is like an eternal fire. "Our God is a consuming fire." (Hebrews 12:29).
Jer 15:15 O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. Jeremiah was persecuted for teaching the truth. For being called Christian, and teaching the truth, you will also be persecuted and made fun of. Your persecution is no problem. God is with you, and it is a blessing for you. (Matthew 10:22, Luke 6:22-23).
Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. The Word of God is like comfort food for the body, soul and spirit.
Jer 15:17 I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation. Filled with rage because of the peoples merry feasts. (Psalm 1:1, 26:4-5, 2 Corinthians 6:17).
Jer 15:18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail? It appears that my pain never goes away. Help is like a spring that has gone dry.
Jer 15:19 Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. If you return to Me, you will be My spokesman. In the last days, we will be God's spokesman. (Acts 2:16-18).
Jer 15:20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD. God promises to help Jeremiah with the difficult people. (God will help you also when the time is right). You will get the victory if you stand with Christ against the false one.
Jer 15:21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible. God will protect Jeremiah from these wicked men. He will also deliver you out of the hands of the wicked and the hand of Satan. (Matthew 6:13, Romans 16:20, 2 Corinthians 1:10).
Jeremiah 16
Jer 16:1 The word of the LORD came also unto me, saying, Another message from the Lord to Jeremiah.
Jer 16:2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place. Forget having a wife and family, no time for that now. (The end is coming).
Jer 16:3 For thus saith the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land; This s what the Lord says concerning children born here.
Jer 16:4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth. They will die a spiritually death from war and famine. (End time prophecy).
Jer 16:5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies. Jeremiah is not to worry or feel sorry for these people. (Gods way of correcting). These are the people who have been deceived and worship antichrist. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. (Revelation 6:4). (Remember the wars and rumors of wars mentioned in Matthew 24:6 and Mark 13:7). Satan will utilize this time to try to bring peace to the earth gaining favor with those who follow him. Through his peace he will deceive and destroy many. (Daniel 8:25).
Jer 16:6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them: Referring back to the time of (Liviticus19:28, Deuteronomy 14:1). They don’t know they are doing wrong and they are celebrating.
Jer 16:7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother. No one will mourn for them. They don't even know that they are spiritually dead. (They brought this on themselves).
Jer 16:8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink. Don't follow their feasts or parties. These people are deceived and are feasting for the antichrist who comes first before the real Christ. Deceived people were drinking, partying, and having perverted sex during Noah's flood and the same during the destruction of Sodom. (Matthew 24:38, Luke 17:27-29).
Jer 16:9 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride. He will put and end to the partying in the end times. (Hosea 2:11, Revelation 18:22-23).
Jer 16:10 And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God? They didn’t even know their sin. They were deceived and followed the traditions and doctrines of men. They think they are doing right.
Jer 16:11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; They worshipped other gods and served them and were unfaithful to our Heavenly Father. They didn’t even stick to the ten commandments. "Walking in the ways of the world." (1 Peter 4:3).
Jer 16:12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me: You people are worse than your ancestors. You listen to men and don’t even listen to Me. They try to please man and forget God. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, (Mark 7:21).
Jer 16:13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour. Cast out to a foreign land. There you can worship idols all you want and I will grant you no favors. God won’t be with them. (Future Babylon), and Satan is the king of Babylon.
Jer 16:14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; God delivered His children but they forgot what He had done. (Exodus 20:2).
Jer 16:15 But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. This is a future time of restoration when God brings all His true children home and God’s elect will overcome. And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. (Amos 9:14). I will bring back the exiled people of Israel from distant lands. They will rebuild their ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and gardens and eat from their crops. (Jeremiah 30:3, Joel 3:1-2). And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God. (Amos 9:15). I will give them back their own land and they will not be pulled out of the land again. "Says the Lord thy God." (Jeremiah 24:26, 32:41, Joel 3:20, Micah 4:4), We are speaking of the complete restoration of the "kingdom of God" here on earth under Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
Jer 16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. I am sending for many fishermen who will catch them, and hunters who will hunt them down in the mountains, hills, and caves. (Revelation 6:15-17).
Jer 16:17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. God know everything and knows your true heart. (Proverbs 15:3).
Jer 16:18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things. Making idols and giving in to idol worship. Deception and giving into evil teachings. (Following the ways of Satan).
Jer 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. Even the "gentile nations" from around the world would realize that their gods (idols), were worthless. (Revelation 21:24).
Jer 16:20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? You can't work out your own salvation like many try to do today. Satan tried, but he failed. (Galatians 1:8, 4:8).
Jer 16:21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD. They will know My power and might and finally understand Who I Am. (Yahveh). “I am that I am, I am the Lord."
Jeremiah 17
Jer 17:1 The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars; Their sin is engraved in their hearts and upon their places of worship.
Jer 17:2 Whilst their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills. Even their children follow pagan worship. (You raised them). In most cases, children will always try to follow the ways of their parents.
Jer 17:3 O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders. King of Babylon is coming. (The same will happen the end times).
Jer 17:4 And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever. God lets the enemy take over because His anger blazes like a fire that will burn forever.
Jer 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. They put their trust in man instead of God. Look how many today who put their trust in some man or woman instead of searching for the truth for themselves. "Don't listen to a bunch of false teachers or hypocrites." God wrote you a personal letter (the bible), to bring you out of bondage and into the freedom of truth.
Jer 17:6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, ina salt land and not inhabited. Like stunted shrubs in the desert. (No hope for the future).
Jer 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord. (The Lord should be your hope and confidence).
Jer 17:8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. Like trees planted in the river bank reaching deep into the water. The stream of truth that flows from the very alter of God. (Psalm 1:1-3), Love the Lord and follow in His Word.
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? The human heart is the most deceitful and wicked of all things. No one knows how bad it is! Don't trust in your own heart, trust in your wisdom from God. (Proverbs 28:26, Ecclesiastes 9:3). For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: (Matthew 15:19). These evil thoughts and actions will get you into big trouble.
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. God knows your heart; you can't con God. Everyone will be judged according to their works. Do wrong and get judged by God. Do good and get rewards from God. What's your choice? (Galatians 6:7-8).
Jer 17:11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool. A partridge will steal eggs form other birds and hatch them. When the bird grows up it realizes that it is not a partridge and it will leave the mother. The same goes for those who get wealth by the ways of the world, or by doing bad things. (You know who they are). They will lose all their wealth in the end and become poor old fools. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (1 Timothy 6:9). Desire for wealth will get you in trouble. It is more dangerous than wealth itself. People who long to be rich soon begin to do all kinds of things wrong to get money. They do not care how they get it or who they hurt to get it. They become rip-offs and scam artists. Know anyone like this? (Watch what happens to them).
Jer 17:12 A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.
Jer 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters. The living waters only come from the alter of God. (John 7:37-38). The Lord is the fountain of living water. (Revelation 7:17, 21:6, 22:1, 22:17). Don’t turn away from the true Christ for the false one.
Jer 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. Need a healing? Ask our Heavenly Father. (Luke 4:18), God can give you a spiritual healing as well as a physical healing.
Jer 17:15 Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of the LORD? let it come now. The people challenging Jeremiah asking why his predictions don't come true. Be careful when you challenge a servant of God. (God may strike you down).
Jer 17:16 As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee. Jeremiah remained faithful as a shepherd over the people. He didn't urge God to send disaster. He spoke of the things that were right before God.
Jer 17:17 Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil. God is all our hope. He will never leave you or forsake you in the day of disaster. (Nahum 1:7). Don't forget the gospel armor. (Ephesians 6:13).
Jer 17:18 Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction. The day is coming... Double destruction. (Isaiah 40:2).
Jer 17:19 Thus said the LORD unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem; Jeremiah was to give the message to everyone who would enter the gate where the king goes in and out.
Jer 17:20 And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates: This message is for all the people.
Jer 17:21 Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; i.e. keep the false teachings and traditions of men out of the house of God.
Jer 17:22 Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers. Don't work on the Sabbath, and keep it as a holy day. Not today; someone changed it to Sunday worship to please the people. However, In these times we need to study God’s Word every day.
Jer 17:23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. Of course, they would not listen, or obey and would not study His Word.
Jer 17:24 And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein; If you obey all Gods laws and ways. Forget what man says, "listen to your Heavenly Father."
Jer 17:25 Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever. The gates of Heaven will be open forever to those who follow the Word of God.
Jer 17:26 And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD. God doesn't want your burnt offerings and sacrifices. He wants your spiritual sacrifices and love. Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:5). We are also to be those living stones with spiritual sacrifices that please God. Those who accept and follow Him are the building blocks or pillars of the many member body of Christ Temple in the end time. Those who overcome will have their part in God's temple. (Revelation 3:12, 21:22).
Jer 17:27 But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched. God was pretty strict about the Sabbath and the nation of Israel. However, for us as Christians, Christ became our Passover and Sabbath. (I Corinthians 5:6-7), You can only find your rest in Christ, "every day."
Jeremiah 18
Jer 18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Another message to Jeremiah.
Jer 18:2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. Go to the potters shop I will speak to you there.
Jer 18:3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. Jeremiah found the potter working at the wheels.
Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. The jar he was making did not turn out like he wanted, so he crushed into a lump of clay and started again.
Jer 18:5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Another message to Jeremiah.
Jer 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. He can do this to Israel just as the potter’s hand. God is the potter and Israel was the clay. A flaw was found in Israel, so God would reform it into something useful.
Jer 18:7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; Just like the potter, God has the authority to destroy a nation (if it is evil), and rebuild it if He wills. (Amos 9:8, Jonah 3:4).
Jer 18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. If the nation repents, God also has the right to be merciful and not destroy it as He planned. (Jonah 3:9-10).
Jer 18:9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; God at times will announce that He will plant and build up a nation or kingdom.
Jer 18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them. However, if that nation or kingdom turns to evil and refuses to listen to God, He will not bless it as He said He would. There is a time for everything. (Ecclesiastes 3:2).
Jer 18:11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good. God warning Judah and Jerusalem about the disaster that will come upon them if they do not repent, change their ways, and do what is right.
Jer 18:12 And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart. No... The people replied, we are stubborn and set in our old ways. We like living this way following our own evil desires.
Jer 18:13 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing. Even the heathen nations would not do such a thing. My virgin daughter Israel has done something terrible. (Hosea 6:10).
Jer 18:14 Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken? You leave the pure snow waters of Lebanon, and build in the dry desert. i.e. You go after false teachings rather than the truth.
Jer 18:15 Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up; My people are not so reliable, they desert Me and burn incense to worthless idols. (Hosea 11:2). They stumble off the ancient highways and walk the muddy paths.
Jer 18:16 To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head. The land will become desolate and all who pass will shake their heads in amazement.
Jer 18:17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity. I will scatter them and turn My back on them, refusing to notice their distress.
Jer 18:18 Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. Lets plot a way to stop Jeremiah. We don’t need him to teach the Word. Let’s spread rumors about him and what he says. (The same will happen to you when you teach the truth).
Jer 18:19 Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me. God knows what the people are planning.
Jer 18:20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them. Should they repay evil for good. I pleaded for them and tried to protect them from your anger, but now they just want to kill me. "And so it is today in the end times." (You try to do good in teaching the truth and they call you crazy or evil).
Jer 18:21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle. Jeremiah is saying; let them spiritually starve to death! Let them die by the sword! (The sword of the Lord is the Word of God).
Jer 18:22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet. The king of Babylon is coming. The king of Babylon in the end times is Satan.
Jer 18:23 Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger. You know they want to kill me. Deal with them in your anger. (The time of God’s wrath in the end times is coming soon).
Jeremiah 19
Jer 19:1 Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests; The Lord tells Jeremiah to go and get a clay potters bottle.
Jer 19:2 And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee, Go through the potters gate to the valley of Ben-Hinnom. (The garbage dump).
Jer 19:3 And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle. Tell the people the Lord will bring terrible disaster will come on this place. (The king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar). But, who is the king of Babylon of the end times? "Satan of course."
Jer 19:4 Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; This place has become a valley of wickedness. The people worship false gods, idols, and false teachings.
Jer 19:5 They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: These sick minded people build pagan shrines to Baal, and they burn their sons as sacrifices to Baal. (Deuteronomy 12:31, 2 Kings 17:17). "God never thought of such a thing." This kind of behavior comes straight from Satan.
Jer 19:6 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter. This valley will be called the valley of slaughter. (In the end times).
Jer 19:7 And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.Reference to: (Leviticus 26:17, Deuteronomy 28:25). Also reference to the end times at the seventh trump. (Revelation 19:18-21).
Jer 19:8 And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof. Jerusalem will be wiped out because of their stupidity.
Jer 19:9 And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them. They will destroy themselves from within.
Jer 19:10 Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee, Jeremiah was told by the Lord to smash the bottle he brought. (The bottle represents the people).
Jer 19:11 And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury. The people of Judah and Jerusalem will be shattered just like the bottle. No hope for repair. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. (Revelation 2:27). God will rule with those who overcome, and those who do not will be smashed like the bottle.
Jer 19:12 Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet: Defiled like Topheth. (Place near Jerusalem).
Jer 19:13 And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods. Burned offerings and incense on the rooftops and liquid offerings were poured out to your idols. Just like at Topheth. (2 Kings 23:10, Ezekiel 7:21-22).
Jer 19:14 Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house; and said to all the people, Jeremiah returns from Topheth to deliver this message to the people.
Jer 19:15 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words. Destruction will come because they refuse to listen. (Zechariah 7:11-14).
Jeremiah 20
Jer 20:1 Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things. Here we have one of the peoples priests that did not like what Jeremiah was teaching. Sound familiar? (Teach truth and many will not like it).
Jer 20:2 Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD. Jeremiah was arrested and whipped by Pashur.
Jer 20:3 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib. The Lord changed his name form Pashur to Magormissabib. Symbolic name for "the man who lives in terror."
Jer 20:4 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword. Terror will come upon you and all your friends, and you will watch as they are slaughtered by the enemy.
Jer 20:5 Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon. All your riches will be carried off to Babylon.
Jer 20:6 And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies. Pashhur was a false priest and teacher and would be captive to Babylon till he dies. (God won't put up with false teachers). Do not be deceived! (2 Peter 2:1-3).
Jer 20:7 O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me. Deceived used here is induced or persuaded. (Jeremiah feels like God made a fool out of him). Jeremiah says he is mocked and laughed at every day. (This will happen when you teach the truth).
Jer 20:8 For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily. Everything God had Jeremiah say was about violence and destruction. "The people did not want to hear it."
Jer 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. Jeremiah thinks he is going to quit teaching Gods word, but when he does, words burn in his heart like a fire. In other words, when you teach the truth and people won't listen, you may want to just quit. But, when the Holy Spirit wants you to continue, you can't stop. When God chose you to teach, you teach, and the word will carry you through and make you stronger. (1 Corinthians 9:16-17).
Jer 20:10 For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him. People will always try to trip you up, even your friends and family. (Luke 12:52-53).
Jer 20:11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. The Lord is with you like a great warrior. He is always at your side. (It’s going to get tough for a teacher in the end times). Many are going to be deceived in the end times and follow traditions of men and the ways of the world.
Jer 20:12 But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause. God tests those who are righteous and examines their deepest thoughts. Jeremiah was committed to God, just as we are to be. (1 Peter 2:23, 4:19).
Jer 20:13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers. Don't worry when you are committed and work for God. He will always rescue you from the oppressor.
Jer 20:14 Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed. We all get down at times and feel this way. Job did... (Job 3:3-16).
Jer 20:15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad. Jeremiah feeling a little sorry for himself.
Jer 20:16 And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide; Let him be destroyed like the cities of old.
Jer 20:17 Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.Jeremiah wishing he was not born. (Satan loves this type of depression). Quit the whining and stand up like a man or woman of God.
Jer 20:18 Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame? Jeremiah saying; "why was I ever born." My life is just filled with trouble. Again, we all have are "poor me baby days." Get over it and get into the word. It will build you up and make a productive person out of you. Have patience and you will receive the promise. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. (Hebrews 10:36). Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all the promises of God. (Colossians 3:24).
Jeremiah 21
Jer 21:1 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, This prophecy is nineteen years later, the deportation in the reign of Jehoiachin had taken place, and a worse set of men were the rulers.
Jer 21:2 Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us. The king of Babylon is coming. Now the people want to be saved, after all their evil ways and worship of false gods.
Jer 21:3 Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah: This message was said to come in the ninth year of Zedekiah (around 589 BC), which was the year Nebuchadnezzar began his siege of Jerusalem. (2 Kings 25:1).
Jer 21:4 Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city. God is saying; your weapons will be useless against the king of Babylon and I will bring the enemy right into the heart of the city.
Jer 21:5 And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. God will bring it on and fight against you. (Speaking to the king of Judah). God will bring this upon us in the end times. The king of Babylon is coming and the wrath of God will follow. (God isn't angry at you, just all the evil ones who do not follow His ways).
Jer 21:6 And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence. Also a future prophecy here for Jerusalem, after the return of anti-Christ. (Luke 21:24).
Jer 21:7 And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy. Fulfilled in 586 BC, when Zedekiah was taken to Babylon along with other leaders that were executed. (Jeremiah 39:5-7, 52:24-27). In the end times God's elect will stand against the king of Babylon.
Jer 21:8 And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. It's your choice, "life or death." (In the end times you will have a choice of eternal life or eternal death).
Jer 21:9 He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. Here's the deal... They can stay in Jerusalem and die, or they can surrender to the Babylonians and live. In the end times you can surrender to the antichrist, or you can stand with God. Here is the difference. If you stand with God in the end times as one of His elect, He will take care of you. You don't need to surrender to the antichrist.
Jer 21:10 For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire. Jerusalem would be handed over to the king of Babylon, just as it will be in the end times when antichrist is there.
Jer 21:11 And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Listen to this message.
Jer 21:12 O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. To execute judgment is to do things right. God tells us what will happen and how to do things. We are to do what He expects us to do.
Jer 21:13 Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? God will personally fight against the people of Jerusalem. Those who boast, “no one can touch us here.” (Micah 3:11).
Jer 21:14 But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it. I Myself will punish you for your sinfulness. I will burn up everything. “All will be gone.” (All these things will take place in the end times).
Jeremiah 22
Jer 22:1 Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, King of Judah would be Jehoiakim at the time. (2 Kings 24:1-6).
Jer 22:2 And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates: Listen to the Lord Jehoiakim who sits on David's throne. Let your attendants and people listen too. (Message to all the kings and the people).
Jer 22:3 Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place. Be fair minded and do what is right. Help the innocent and do not mistreat foreigners, orphans and widows.
Jer 22:4 For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people. Obey God and do things His way and there will always be a descendant of David sitting on the throne in Jerusalem.
Jer 22:5 But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation. Don't do things God's way and Jerusalem will become a pile of rubble.
Jer 22:6 For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited. Gilead was the most fertile part of the country, and renowned for its rich pastures; and Lebanon was the highest mountain in Israel, celebrated for its stately cedars; and both were, therefore, proper emblems of the reigning family. "But though thou art the richest and most powerful, I, who raised thee up, can bring thee down, and make thee a wilderness."
Jer 22:7 And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire. I will send the destroyers (corrupters, spoilers), to dismantle you.
Jer 22:8 And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city? People will pass by the ruins and say, how did this happen?
Jer 22:9 Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them. Because the people worshipped other gods. Just like many will do in the end times by worshipping the false messiah. (Revelation 13:13-18).
Jer 22:10 Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country. Josiah is the one that is dead, don’t weep for him, but rather Jehoiakim who will go into captive. (2 Kings 23:30-34).
Jer 22:11 For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more: Josiah was a good king but Jehoahaz was bad.
Jer 22:12 But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more. Jehoahaz was never seen again.
Jer 22:13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work; Sorrow awaits Jehoiakim who builds his palace with forced labor. He is a rip-off who does not pay for labor.
Jer 22:14 That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion. He's going to build a magnificent palace with huge rooms and windows. (Looks so good and religious). Sound familiar?
Jer 22:15 Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it waswell with him? Jehoiakim's father was Josiah.
Jer 22:16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD. Josiah did it because he loved the Lord and never took advantage of the people.
Jer 22:17 But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it. But you! You are greedy and dishonest, and you murder the innocent.
Jer 22:18 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory! The people will not mourn for Jehoiakim.
Jer 22:19 He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem. Jehoiakim was dishonorable and would be dumped outside the gates of Jerusalem.
Jer 22:20 Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed. Message to the people of Jerusalem.
Jer 22:21 I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice. This is what prosperity usually brings. A hardened heart and ears that will not listen. This is what happened to Jerusalem.
Jer 22:22 The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness. Your leadership has come to the point were you have nothing but false teachings. No truth in you to feed the people, just wickedness and confusion.
Jer 22:23 O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail! Living high on the hog but spiritually dead. How are you doing spiritually in the end times?
Jer 22:24 As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence; Coniah, also know as Jeconiah or Jehoiachin.
Jer 22:25 And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans. Jehoiachin would be taken captive to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar.
Jer 22:26 And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
Jer 22:27 But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return. They died never to return.
Jer 22:28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not? Is this man Coniah: This appears to be the application of the whole discourse to Zedekiah; for it is to be observed, that Jeconiah is spoken of as absent, and already in captivity. Now if he and his seed had been for their sins thrown aside as a broken idol, or as a vessel which a man despises, how could Zedekiah, who copied and far exceeded them, expect to prosper on the throne of David?
Jer 22:29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.
Jer 22:30 Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah. As to the throne, not one of his sons (1 Chronicles 3:17-18), sat upon his throne.
Jeremiah 23
Jer 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. Trouble for the leaders of the people as well as the priests and prophets.
Jer 23:2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. They desert the people instead of leading them. They scatter the people teaching them church doctrine and traditions of men instead of the word of God. Judgment is coming upon these leaders.
Jer 23:3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. The people will be brought back from the countries I have driven them. There will always be a remnant to bring the truth forward.
Jer 23:4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD. The shepherds are the remnant (Gods elect), who will bring the truth to the people. (Protectors of the faith).
Jer 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. The branch raised up would be the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jer 23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. The Lord our Righteousness will be His name. (We have salvation because Jesus is our gift from God).
Jer 23:7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; They will no longer say it, but He did rescue the people from the land of Egypt.
Jer 23:8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. Now they will say the Lord has brought us back to our own land, from the land of the north, and the countries to which they were exiled. (Return from the Babylonian captivity, but also future prophecy of the end times).
Jer 23:9 Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness. Jeremiah is heartbroken because of the false prophets. If he seen the false teachers of today, he would be more than heartbroken. Immorality has taken on a new meaning in today's world.
Jer 23:10 For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right. The land is full of idolaters and false prophets.
Jer 23:11 For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD. The priests and teachers are ungodly, wicked men. They claim to be teachers of Christ but there is no truth in them because of lack of knowledge. (Their own laziness).
Jer 23:12 Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD. Their paths will become slippery and they will stumble through the dark and fall. Disaster will come upon them at the time of their punishment.
Jer 23:13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. House of Israel (the ten northern tribes), were led into sin by the prophets of Samaria (the prophets of Baal).
Jer 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. The prophets of Jerusalem are worse than the prophets of Samaria. They commit adultery and love dishonesty. They encourage the people to follow their evil ways so no one turns away from their sin. "They are like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were." (A bunch of sick minded prophets). Sound familiar?
Jer 23:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land. Here is what happens to these false prophets and teachers. The Lord will give them bitter water and poison to drink because their wickedness has filled the land. This word "gall" here is "poppy plant." (Because of war with other countries, we see plenty of heroin around today).
Jer 23:16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. All they teach is lies and traditions of men. They do not speak for the Lord.
Jer 23:17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. They tell the people who do not pay attention to God; don't worry, the Lord says you will have peace. And to those who follow their own way and ways of the world; don't worry, no harm will come to you. (i.e. they lie to you, to get into your pockets).
Jer 23:18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? The truth is right in front of them and they still don't care or listen. Do you know any friends or family like that? You try to bring them a truth and they just blow you off.
Jer 23:19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. The Lord's anger will be like a whirlwind on the heads of the wicked.
Jer 23:20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. In the later days when the Lord has finished all He has planned, you will understand all this very clearly.
Jer 23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. These false prophets and teachers were not sent by God, but they claim to be. God has given them no message to teach, but they go on prophesying.
Jer 23:22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. If they would have listen to God and spoken to the people about the truth the people would have turned from their evil ways. (The problem today is that most people don't want to hear it the way the priests and pastors teach it). "Let God's Word do the teaching and take self out of the picture."
Jer 23:23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? If you don't want God close in your life, He will leave you alone.
Jer 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. However, God is everywhere and you can't hide form Him.
Jer 23:25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. Ever hear one of these bible thumping priests or preachers say; "I had a dream last night." They dream up lies, it's not from God. (If it is a real dream from God it will be written in His word).
Jer 23:26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; They are prophets of deceit, inventing everything they say. (1 timothy 4:1-2, 2 Timothy 4:3).
Jer 23:27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. Because of these false teachings and dreams, the people will forget God just as their ancestors did. They will follow the antichrist in the end times just as their ancestors worshipped idols of Baal.
Jer 23:28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. Now we get down to were the rubber meets the road. "Gods true messengers teach every word of truth." If you are a true teacher of the Word, you do not need to worry about the others who teach false teaching and traditions of men. i.e. When the dreamers declare their dreams, and the true prophets faithfully declare their message, the difference between them will be as evident as that between "the chaff and the wheat." (1 Corinthians 3:12-13).
Jer 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? The truth corrects, the Word will correct them and God will take care of them. (Hebrews 4:12).
Jer 23:30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. They steel messages from each other and claim they are from God. (They may steel the message, but it's not from God). "It's like they are confirming each other about their lies." (1 Peter 3:12).
Jer 23:31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. God is against these smooth tongued teachers who say, "this prophecy is from the Lord." Another problem with these preachers today is that their always trying to sell God's message instead of freely giving it to you.
Jer 23:32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD. They cause the people to error because of their lies. No truth in them to help the people, they just put the people deeper into bondage with their church doctrine and traditions of men. "Christ tells us to stay away from them." Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Matthew 15:14). Ignore them. They are blind teachers leading the blind, and both will fall into a ditch.
Jer 23:33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. God does not put burdens on people. If you say He does you are in trouble. These false prophets want to put a burden on you with a heavy message that will keep you in bondage. (It's all about control). DO NOT BE DECEIVED!
Jer 23:34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.Again, God does not send burdens, people bring them on themselves. "Watch out if you say He does."
Jer 23:35 Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken? Try to understand and ask what the Lord is saying.
Jer 23:36 And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. Stop using the phrases; "This prophecy is from the Lord." "The Lord touched me today and gave me a special message." This is giving authority to their own ideas, turning upside down the words of our God. "The living God."
Jer 23:37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken?
Jer 23:38 But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; Quit blaming God for every bad thing in your life. We bring on our own burdens and we need to take responsibility. For every man shall bear his own burden. (Galatians 6:5). We all must bear our own burdens. None of us our perfect. (Romans 2:6).
Jer 23:39 Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: Keep blaming God and He will not have anything to do with you.
Jer 23:40 And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten. Keep it up and you will be made an object of ridicule, and your name will be worthless. (Hosea 4:7).
Jeremiah 24
Jer 24:1 The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon. Here we will see reference to the parable of the fig tree.
Jer 24:2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad. The good and bad figs that Jesus taught us about.
Jer 24:3 Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. Same as the fig tree in the garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:15-16).
Jer 24:4 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Jer 24:5 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. The good figs represent the exiles I sent from Judah to the land of the Babylonians.
Jer 24:6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. Reference to 1948 when Israel became a nation again.
Jer 24:7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart. Reference to those who will stand in the end times. (Gods elect). Looking forward to the second coming of Christ.
Jer 24:8 And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt: The bad figs represent Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and all the people left in Jerusalem and Egypt.
Jer 24:9 And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. The bad figs will be made a symbol of evil and God would scatter them.
Jer 24:10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers. God would send them war, famine, and disease until they have vanished from the land of Israel. This is how it will go down in the end. (Mark 13:21-31). God tells us all things. When you plant figs you set out shoots. The parable of the fig tree represents the final generation. Also a reference to the parable of the tares, the good and bad seed. The Son of man planted the good seed. (Matthew 13:37). The devil planted the bad seed. (Matthew 13:38-39). Who will you follow? Jesus Christ, or Satan?
Jeremiah 25
Jer 25:1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; The first: Nebuchadnezzar was associated with his father Nabopollasar two years before the death of the latter; and from this time the Jewish computation of Nebuchadnezzar's reign begins; that is, from the end of the third year of Jehoiakim; and therefore, according to them, the fourth year of Jehoiakim was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar. But the Babylonians date the commencement of his reign two years later, that is, on the death of his father; which computation is followed by Daniel, who wrote in Chaldee. (2 Kings 24:1-2, Daniel 1:1). The Lord gave Nebuchadnezzar victory over Judah. God has a plan here to use Nebuchadnezzar as His servant. (Jeremiah 27:6-7).
Jer 25:2 The which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Jeremiah speaks to the people.
Jer 25:3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened. Jeremiah has been prophesying for 23 years. 18 years under Josiah, 3 months under Johoahaz, 4 years under Jehoiakim.
Jer 25:4 And the LORD hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear. God sent the prophets but the people would not listen or even pay attention. Urijah the son of Shemaiah, and Huldah the prophetess, lived about this time. Zephaniah also prophesied during part of the time; and it is probable that Habakkuk was contemporary with them.
Jer 25:5 They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever: The message was always "turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing."
Jer 25:6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt. Keep provoking God with idol worship and false teachings and trouble will come your way.
Jer 25:7 Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt. The people would not pay attention and continued to worship idols made form man. They bring disaster on themselves. (Proverbs 8:36).
Jer 25:8 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,
Jer 25:9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations. The armies from the north will be gathered together under the king of Babylon. It will happen here and it will happen in the end times.
Jer 25:10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. I will take from them: Parallel reference to the end times. And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; (Revelation 18:22). The millstone is to produce bread or truth. (There is no more truth in them). And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. (Revelation 18:23). No light because the prince of darkness is present. The light is also blinded by their sorceries. This word sorceries in the Strong's Greek dictionary is #5331 (Pharmakeia) medication "Pharmacy" from #5332 (Pharmakeus) a drug, spell giving potion, druggist or poisoner. We are not talking about legal Pharmacist here, or are we; We are mainly speaking of drug dealers pedaling their poison to children and adults. However, today we even find doctors prescribing drugs that they shouldn't, turning patients into addicts. But, It doesn't stop there... Thy merchants were the great men: Those in high places with money and power; that's who controls the drugs coming into this country.
Jer 25:11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. Seventy: This prophecy was delivered in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, and began to be accomplished immediately; and it was exactly seventy years from this time to the proclamation of Cyrus for the return of the Jews.
Jer 25:12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations. Reference to (Daniel 5:1-31). End time reference to (Revelation 18:1-24).
Jer 25:13 And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations. All the terrors promised in this book which Jeremiah announced will come against Babylon. (Daniel 5:28, 5:31, Revelation 10:11).
Jer 25:14 For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands. Of them: i.e. the Chaldeans.
Jer 25:15 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. The cup of wrath that will be poured out in the end times. (Revelation 14:10, 14:19). The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: (Revelation 14:10). Remember that God is that consuming fire. This is the cup of wrath that Jesus would say "Let this cup pass from me" in Matthew 26. He didn't want this cup of wrath to be poured out on the world if possible. But, if the unbelievers or those deceived by Satan do not come around to the truth after the millennium, then it will be to late.
Jer 25:16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. When they drink from the cup of wrath, they will stagger like a drunk and will be crazed by warfare. (Revelation 18:3).
Jer 25:17 Then took I the cup at the LORD'S hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me: All the nations instructed by the Lord will drink from the cup of wrath.
Jer 25:18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; Jerusalem comes first, just as in the end times when judgment begins at the pulpit. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17). Judgment is near, and it begins with God's household. (We are all equal in God's eyes when doing His word). But, just think what lies for those who ignore the Word of God.
Jer 25:19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; Here begins the list of nations who will receive the cup of wrath.
Jer 25:20 And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, Ashdod: Home of the Kenites.
Jer 25:21 Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon, Edom is russia.
Jer 25:22 And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea, Isles: Coast land or maritime country.
Jer 25:23 Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners, Dedan: On the borders of Edom. Tema and Buz: The country of Elihu. (Job 32:2).
Jer 25:24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert, People of the desert.
Jer 25:25 And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,
Jer 25:26 And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. Sheshach: The cypher B.B.L. "Babel." The final judgment of the nations is yet future. When the "great Babylon" comes into remembrance, it will "drink after them." (Revelation 18:1-24).
Jer 25:27 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you. Drink from the cup, vomit, get drunk, and fall to rise no more. (Sounds like a typical drunk). Terrible wars will be sent against you.
Jer 25:28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink. No choice for these nations but to drink from the cup of God's wrath.
Jer 25:29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts. War is coming against all the nations of the earth. (No nation will escape).
Jer 25:30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. The return of Jesus Christ in the second advent. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Revelation 19:15). His mouth is a two edge sword. (Revelation 1:16) Striking down the nations with power and He will rule them with an iron grip. This wrath is only against His enemies, not His people.
Jer 25:31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD. Judgment is coming against the nations and He will judge all the people on earth.
Jer 25:32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. Disaster will fall upon the nations from one side of the earth to the other. Whirlwind: Hurricane and storms. (Been getting a little stormy out there lately).
Jer 25:33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground. Slaughtered from one end of the earth to the other.
Jer 25:34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel. Trouble for the leaders and false shepherds. Again, judgment begins at the pulpit.
Jer 25:35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape. You can't hide form God. (You get what you got coming).
Jer 25:36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture. Ruined their pastures because of false teachings and traditions of men. (The shepherd is to take care of the sheep, not to lead them into confusion).
Jer 25:37 And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the LORD. Peaceful meadows turned to wasteland. (Because they did not listen to the Word of God).
Jer 25:38 He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger. The land will be made desolate by the sword of the enemy and anger of the Lord. (The tribulation of the end times). Many believe they will be gone during this period. We will be here during the tribulation, but there is no need to worry if you are on the side of the Lord. "God takes care of His own."
Jeremiah 26
Jer 26:1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the LORD, saying, In the beginning: Before the siege, in the third year of Jehoiakim. (2 Chronicles 36:4-5).
Jer 26:2 Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD'S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word: Jeremiah is to give the people the whole message from God. (i.e. Every word). When you teach Gods word, teach it as it is written. Not just a scripture here and there. Teach the whole word of God Chapter by chapter and verse by verse. (Matthew 28:20, Revelation 22:19).
Jer 26:3 If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. All God wants is for people to listen to the truth and turn from sin. (John 4:2, 2 Peter 3:9).
Jer 26:4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you, The Lord says, If you do not listen to Me and obey the Word I have given you.
Jer 26:5 To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened; If you do not listen to My servants now, like the prophets I sent to warn you before, but you would not listen.
Jer 26:6 Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. Then I will make you like the house of Shiloh. What happened at Shiloh? But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. (Jeremiah 7:12). God allowed the ark of the covenant to be captured, and Shiloh was wiped out. (1 Samuel 4:3-4, 1 Samuel 4:10-11).
Jer 26:7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD. Jeremiah spoke and they listened to what he had to say. I'm sure Jeremiah laid it on them pretty heavy and pulled no punches.
Jer 26:8 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die. When Jeremiah finished his message, the priests, prophets, and people mobbed him and wanted to kill him. Keep in mind that they did the same to Christ. (Matthew 26:3-4). Be careful when you teach the truth, many preachers and people are not going to like it.
Jer 26:9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD. They wanted to know what right Jeremiah had to prophesy such a message. They didn't like it and threatened Jeremiah.
Jer 26:10 When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house. The head officials of Judah heard what was going on and rushed over to the east gate.
Jer 26:11 Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears. The priests and prophets presented their case to the officials. They said this man should die for prophesying against this city.
Jer 26:12 Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. Jeremiah tells them in his defense, "The Lord sent me to prophesy against this Temple and this city."
Jer 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. Jeremiah tells them, stop your sinning and obey the Lord and He will change His mind about this coming disaster.
Jer 26:14 As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you. As for me, do what you think is best. (When God is with you, don't give into the crowds). "Stand your ground."
Jer 26:15 But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears. Kill me and your killing an innocent man. The Lord sent me, so the responsibility will lie on you and this city. (Revelation 16:6).
Jer 26:16 Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God. Now the false prophets were called out. The people said to them, this man does not deserve the death sentence.
Jer 26:17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, Some of the wise old men stood up in Jeremiah's defense.
Jer 26:18 Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. Remember what Micah prophesied during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah. "Mount Zion will be plowed like an open field and Jerusalem would be reduced to ruins." (Micah 1:1, 3:12).
Jer 26:19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls. Now a light went on in their heads and they remembered what happened. Hezekiah didn't persecute Micah for his prophecy, he encourage the people to repent.
Jer 26:20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah: Another prophecy that came forth. (Message from the Lord).
Jer 26:21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt; They sent someone to kill him but he escaped.
Jer 26:22 And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt. Sent them to capture Uriah after he fled.
Jer 26:23 And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people. Found him and killed him. (Buried in an unmarked grave).
Jer 26:24 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death. Ahikam stood up for Jeremiah and he was spared. (Jeremiah was a chosen vessel to serve God).
Jeremiah 27
Jer 27:1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Message to Jeremiah from the Lord.
Jer 27:2 Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck, Bonds and yokes: Symbols of bondage and slavery. Prophetic of what was to happen in the reign of Zedekiah, eleven years later.
Jer 27:3 And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah; The message would come from these various kings to Zedekiah.
Jer 27:4 And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; Here comes the message.
Jer 27:5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. Anything God had made He can give to whom ever He may choose.
Jer 27:6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. God giving the enemy itself (Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon), control over the countries. (i.e. God using the enemy as His servant).
Jer 27:7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. Him, his sons, and his son's son: i.e. Evil Merodach, Nergelissar, and Nabonidus, in whose seventeenth year Babylon was taken by Cyrus. Great kings: i.e. the kings of Persia and Media. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. (Daniel 2:39). After your kingdom, another world power will rise inferior to yours. (The Medo-Persian Empire, whose first great ruler was Cyrus). In 539 BC, the Medo-Persian Empire conquered Babylon. After that kingdom falls, a third kingdom of brass will rise to take it's place and will rule the world. (The Greek Empire, founded by Alexander the great). The Greek Empire would conquer the Persian Empire in 330 BC.
Jer 27:8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. There is a peculiar grandeur, as well as propriety, in this method of predicting Nebuchadnezzar's rapid successes. The God of Israel, declaring himself to be the Lord of armies, and the Creator and Owner of the whole earth, with all its inhabitants and productions, and claiming full sovereignty over his creatures, avows his determination, for reasons he does not deign to assign, to give all the countries of the world to the king of Babylon, whom he calls his servant, because he would accomplish an important part of his most righteous designs. They, therefore, who would escape the most dreadful judgments, must submit to the God of Israel, by submitting to Nebuchadnezzar; they must hearken to the prophets of Israel, and not to their own diviners; and they must observe, that Nebuchadnezzar, his son, and his grandson, would whatever opposition should be made, possess the full dominion of all these countries, till the appointed time was expired; and then, these haughty conquerors would in their turn become the prey of other powerful conquerors; all of which was most exactly fulfilled.
Jer 27:9 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: i.e. don't listen to false prophets and false teachers claiming to teach God's word. (Revelation 22:15), they love to make up lies.
Jer 27:10 For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish. Again, they are all liars!
Jer 27:11 But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. Jeremiah telling the kings and people to surrender to the king of Babylon and they would be allowed to stay in their own country to farm the land. i.e. those who surrender would be safe. In the future reference to us we turn to Mark 13, when we will face the king of Babylon of the end times. (Satan himself). But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. (Mark 13:9).Watch out in these times. You will be delivered up the councils and stand trial for being a follower of Jesus. (Matthew 24:9-10), This will be your opportunity to stand for Christ and tell them about Him. We are speaking of those delivered up to anti-Christ. (The anointed ones with the seal of God in their foreheads). And the gospel must first be published among all nations. (Mark 13:10). The Good News must be preached to all nations. (It's happening now). When the nations all know "The Good News," they will be held accountable. (Mark 16:15, Matthew 24:14). But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. (Mark 13:11). When you are delivered up, don't worry what to say. "The hour of temptation." (Revelation 3:10), If you keep His Word He will keep you from failing in the hour of temptation during the great tribulation. But, you must first know the truth of His Word before you can keep it. Have ye not read? In the end times, God will pour our His Spirit among His children. "The Holy Spirit will speak through you." (Joel 2:28).
Jer 27:12 I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live. Message for Zedekiah to yield to the king of Babylon, but he wouldn't.
Jer 27:13 Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? Zedekiah questioning the message from the Lord.
Jer 27:14 Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. Don't believe their lies, the king of Babylon will not conquer you. (The same message will be taught in the end times when they tell you that the antichrist will not come first).
Jer 27:15 For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you. There were all kinds of prophets in those days, false ones and true ones. "Same with teachers today." We need to keep our head in the Word of God, to discern the truth. Do not be deceived!
Jer 27:16 Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD'S house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. All lies... The vessels: Which were taken away by Nebuchadnezzar in the reigns of Jehoiakim and Jeconiah. (2 Kings 24:13, 2 Chronicles 36:7-10, Daniel 1:2).
Jer 27:17 Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste? Always do it God's way, not man's way.
Jer 27:18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. The gold is gone. These prophets are saying that the things already taken to Babylon will be back soon.
Jer 27:19 For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city, Their going to strip it clean.
Jer 27:20 Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
Jer 27:21 Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;
Jer 27:22 They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place. Everything will be carried away to Babylon and will stay there until I (the Lord), will bring them back to Jerusalem again. (2 Kings 24:13, 25:13-15).
Jeremiah 28
Jer 28:1 And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, thatHananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, Around 593 B.C. the same year when Jeremiah had counseled Zedekiah not to listen to false prophets. Hananiah: A false prophet who lived in Gibeon (a city of priests (Joshua 21:17), was probably a priests as Jeremiah was.
Jer 28:2 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. This is not what Jeremiah said. (Jeremiah 27:2-12).
Jer 28:3 Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD'S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon: God said it would be seventy years. Who do you believe? Jeremiah the true prophet of God, or Hananiah the false prophet. Don't listen to crackpots. We have way to many of them around today who think they are teaching God's word and have no truth in them at all.
Jer 28:4 And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Jer 28:5 Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD,
Jer 28:6 Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place. After listening to this crackpot, Jeremiah says amen. (Jeremiah kind of mocking him here). Jeremiah knew this would not be true.
Jer 28:7 Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people;
Jer 28:8 The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
Jer 28:9 The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him. What he is saying here is that the proof of the prophet is in the truth of the prediction. (As the old saying goes, "the proof is in the pudding"). Jeremiah knows what this guy is saying will not come true.
Jer 28:10 Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it. Remember what God told Jeremiah. "Put on the yoke." This crackpot Hananiah broke the yoke of God.
Jer 28:11 And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. Jeremiah knew it would be seventy years not two years of oppression. But, Jeremiah just let him babble on and left the temple. (Proverbs 14:7).
Jer 28:12 Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Here comes a real message from the Lord to Jeremiah.
Jer 28:13 Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron. This crackpot Hananiah just made things worse. It went from a yoke of wood to a yoke of iron. (No stronger symbol could have been given).
Jer 28:14 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also. Same words spoken in (Deuteronomy 28:48). When God speaks; "That's That."
Jer 28:15 Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Now someone puts this crackpot Hananiah in his place. Jeremiah tells him he is lying to the people and misleading them. Don't listen to false prophets, priests, preachers and fools. They are getting desperate in the end times to get into your pockets because their ministries are failing. "Listen to God's Word."
Jer 28:16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. "Judgment begins at the pulpit." (If you tech God’s Word you, better be teaching the truth).
Jer 28:17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month. Two months later this false priest and prophet Hananiah died.
Jeremiah 29
Jer 29:1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon; The first letter to all the people from Jeremiah that were carried away as captives. This transaction is supposed to have taken place in the first or second year of Zedekiah.
Jer 29:2 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;). Jeconiah: i.e. Jehoiachin. The queen: Nehushta, the wife of Jehoiachin. (2 Kings 24:12-15).
Jer 29:3 By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying, Jeremiah's wrote a letter to these people.
Jer 29:4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; The Lord caused this to happen. (God did this for a reason). He will do the same thing in the end times when His elect are delivered up to stand against the king of Babylon of the end times (the antichrist).
Jer 29:5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; Go on with your everyday living. We are to do the same in the end times when the antichrist appears. (Just don't fall for his lies and worship him).
Jer 29:6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. Live and have children and do not dwindle away.
Jer 29:7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. Seek peace and prosperity where I send you to exile. (Hang in there till the end and God will take care of you). He is in control.
Jer 29:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. God wants the people to settle down, and the false priests and prophets want them to be ready to move on. i.e. Don’t be deceived by these false prophets and preachers that teach traditions of men today. Their lying to you and only worry about themselves. (Matthew 24:4-5, 24:24, Luke 21:8, Ephesians 4:14).
Jer 29:9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD. I didn’t send them says the Lord, they dream this stuff up themselves and pass it on to the people. (It seems people believe anything their priest or pastor tells them today). Check them out with Gods Word, not their doctrine and traditions.
Jer 29:10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. This would happen with that generation. (Zephaniah 2:7). This is what will happen in the end times to the last generation. Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. (1 Corinthians 10:11). As examples to us. So you would know how it would go down in the end.
Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. God has plans for peace and good, not for disaster.
Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. He is there for us today, talk to Him.
Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. "There is a condition here." Seek Him with your heart and you will find Him. Did you ever play hiding seek and never look for the person that was hiding? If you don't look, you won't find them. If you don't seek out Christ and His word, you won't find Christ or the truth.
Jer 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. God's restoration of a nation and the people. Spiritually speaking, God can do this to those who are lost, in confusion, or in bondage by false religions. Remember, "The truth will set you free."
Jer 29:15 Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon; Keep in mind that Babylon means confusion. These so called priests and prophets of Babylon kept the people in confusion. God is not the author of confusion, but a God of understanding and peace of mind.
Jer 29:16 Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity; Concerning the king and all those who are still living in Jerusalem not taken to Babylon.
Jer 29:17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. Remember Jeremiah's vision in chapter 24 about the good and bad figs. These are the vile worthless figs he is talking about.
Jer 29:18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them: They will be pursued with war, famine, and disease and scattered around the world.
Jer 29:19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD. They refuse to listen to the Words of the Lord. What is the famine in the end times? It is for hearing the word of God. How many people do you know that really want to hear the Word of God? Not that many. They would rather listen to man and traditions of men.
Jer 29:20 Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon: King of Babylon is coming!
Jer 29:21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes; Your prophets will be turned over to Nebuchadnezzar for execution. It actually happened when He killed all of Zedekiah’s sons. (Not the daughters).
Jer 29:22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire; They would be roasted in the fire. (They gouged the eyes out of Zedekiah and killed him). Remember in Daniel 3, that Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego were not hurt in the fire because God was with them.
Jer 29:23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD. However, these guys have done terrible things. Not only were they false prophets, but they lived immoral lives. Sound familiar?
Jer 29:24 Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying, Shemaiah the Nehelamite (or dreamer).
Jer 29:25 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, Shemaiah wrote a letter to Jerusalem and the priests to put pressure on Jeremiah to stop the prophecies. (They wanted to shut him up).
Jer 29:26 The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks. Referring to Jeremiah.
Jer 29:27 Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you? Anathoth: The priest town. Why have you done nothing to stop Jeremiah who claims to be a prophet among you?
Jer 29:28 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them. Jeremiah was telling them the truth.
Jer 29:29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet. Zephaniah presented it to Jeremiah.
Jer 29:30 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
Jer 29:31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie: Shemaiah the dreamer. God did not send him and he was a liar.
Jer 29:32 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.Shemaiah and his family would be punished for his lies. "God's judgment, not Jeremiah's." it's a very dangerous thing to speak against God.
