It is important for us all at times to bring ourselves down to a child's level of teaching and understanding. Kind of like when we first became Christians and started with the basics of learning the Word. If we were lucky enough to be taught the truth at a young age, many of us matured quickly in the Word and had the chance to know the truth and follow the true teaching's of Christ. We went from babes in the Word, to disciples and followers of Christ. The “wise and prudent” Pharisees and Sadducees had a difficult time accepting their Messiah. But the simple disciples (the babes), gladly followed Him. Lets begin our study in the book of Matthew.
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, (Matthew 21:12). He came to the temple and it was filled with a bunch of rip-off money changers. In this time you were to offer the best that you had to God, but these rip-offs were selling mite infested doves.
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. (Matthew 21:13). Turned the temple of God into a bunch of beggars and thieves. Just like many churches do today. There are a few good churches out there that teach the truth of God's Word, so if you find a "full Gospel church" that teaches "real truth," chapter by chapter, stick with them.
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. (Matthew 21:14). Because He was the real thing.
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased, (Matthew 21:15). The chief priests and scribes wanted to kill Him because He messed up their little party. You cannot play church and be pleasing to God!
And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? (Matthew 21:16). Quoting from (Psalms 8:2). For the deeper student, He was also talking about that little babe David who slew Goliath. "Out of the mouth of babes." (1 Samuel 17:44-49), Out of the mouth of that babe David came the words: "I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts." "This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee." And so it was that David, "that young lad," just a babe, killed Goliath. Goliath received the deadly wound symbolic of the deadly wound the one world political and religious system receives in the book of revelation.
Now lets go to Matthew chapter 11 and Luke 10 to continue our study. Jesus had just addressed the multitudes concerning John the Baptist. Then He began to upbraid the cities where most of His mighty works were done, because they did not repent. (No truth in them). At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. (Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21). Jesus thanked the Father for hiding these things of the spirit from those who think they are so wise and clever, and revealing them to those who are like little children. "Those who are open to the truth."
Many will never come to the truth during these times. Why? Because they do not care and do not have the eyes to see or ears to hear the truth. In the book of Romans it states that God even keeps the truth from them. According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day. (Romans 11:8). Here it is, the spirit of slumber written here and in the old testament. (Isaiah 29:10), "To this day He has shut their eyes so they do not see, and closed their ears so they do not hear." And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them. (Romans 11:9). Spoken by David, "Let their bountiful table become a snare, a trap that makes them think all is well. i.e. Let their blessings cause them to stumble, and get what they deserve." (Psalm 69:22-23).
Material and monetary possessions can become a trap and make you think all is well. (People who cherish their physical money over spiritual wealth). It's all about the money! Your spiritual blessings can also cause you to stumble, thinking you are on the right track when your not. This is what happened to Israel: their spiritual blessings should have led them to Christ, but became a snare to them and kept them from Christ. Why? Their religious practices became substitutes for the real experience of salvation. This goes on today when people depend on certain churches religious rituals and practices instead of trusting in Christ, without all the fluff. Playing church! It looks so holy, but it is far from the truth. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. (Romans 11:10). Let their eyes be blind to the truth so they cannot see and let their backs be bent forever. (Psalm 69:23).
Lets go back to the book of Matthew chapter 13, where it talks about the mysteries revealed unto babes. He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. (Matthew 13:11). What are the mysteries? (The Key of David, know who the Kenites are, know that the Anti-Christ comes first before the real Christ). For some God unlocks the mysteries of the Kingdom, and some are blinded for their own protection. Why? Because even if they knew the truth they would not use it for good, or pass it on to others. And many of them would not be able to stand against Anti-Christ. They have enough problems standing on their own.
For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. (Matthew 13:12). If you search out a truth, He will give it to you. You also need to share it with others if you have it, otherwise you may lose it.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. (Matthew 13:13). They will not see, hear, or understand. (Isaiah 6:8-10).
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: (Matthew 13:14). If you won't even crack the surface, the seed will not take. You will never understand God's Word if you do not show interest or search for the truth. Settling for traditions of men and fly by night teachings will not cut it. God will keep the truth from those who will just grab at anything so they feel spiritually safe.
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Matthew 13:15). Waxed over! Their eyes are closed because they did not care. Just as many do not care today. They have time for everything the world has to offer, but little time to study and search for truth in God's Word.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. (Matthew 13:16). "The eyes and ears of a babe." (a true disciple of God)! Do you have eyes to see and ears to hear?
Now we will skip up to Matthew chapter 18, to continue our study. Here Christ gives a very important qualification for entering the kingdom of heaven. And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3). For the lost sinner, you must turn to God from your sins and become as little children. For the Christian; you need to get rid of all the excess spiritual baggage. (Religious junk, false teachings, and traditions of men). We need to focus on God's Word only! Just as a child has a fresh mind, we should also be the same in absorbing the truth of His Word.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:4). God loves it when you humble yourself as a child.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. (Matthew 18:5). To be humble and kind to others when it is possible.
But
whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it
were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and
that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (Matthew
18:6). This word offend here is "scandalize"
in the Greek #4624 (to trip-up or entice to sin). If you cause
someone to trip-up, or lose their faith, you are asking for trouble.
God will not allow people to pick on His children.
Now lets go to Psalm 8 to complete out study. Out
of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength
because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the
avenger. (Psalm
8:2). Our Heavenly Father has taught
children and infants to tell of His strength, silencing His enemies
and all who oppose Him. "Out of the mouth of babes." The simple
disciples realized that they had to become as children, innocent and
willing to learn, before they could grasp the true meaning and
mysteries of the Word. Can you realize the same? There is an old
Chinese saying of wisdom; "You must first empty your cup of
knowledge, before you can fill it with mine." This is what our
Heavenly Father wants from us. To clear our minds of all the junk,
false teachings, and traditions of men, so that we can absorb the
truth of His Word.
