When the apostle Paul addressed the Ephesians he talked of the unity and having a new life in Christ. He explained that there is one body and one spirit and that marriage is a symbol of the church. But what I think is most important was Paul's awesome interpretation about being strong in the Lord. He warns us that we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but that we are in a spiritual war against unseen rulers and powers in high places. So lets take a good look at what Paul was trying to tell us. We will find our answers in the book of Ephesians.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10). Your strength comes from the Lord's might within you. God is our strength that gets things done that we would normally not be able to accomplish on our own. Not only that, but it is amazing how God can change the minds of other people to make things happen in our favor.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11). Put on all God's armor to stand against all strategies and tricks of Satan. Remember it says to "stand against Satan," and that means you are going to be here when Satan and his angels return to this earth. (Revelation 12:9). He will take care of you during this time of tribulation.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12). We are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers of the unseen world. Mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world. Take a good look around you at all the evil, perversion, corrupt minds and doers of evil things. (1 Timothy 6:5, Psalm 141:4, Proverbs 15:28).
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13). Use all of God's armor to resist the enemy and temptation, especially in the evil day when antichrist appears on the scene. Again, we are to take a stand; not to look for a easy way out.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14). You need the strong belt of truth, the Word of God, and the breastplate of God's approval.
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. (Ephesians 6:15). Take the shoes of the spirit to speed you on as you preach the Good News of peace with God. You need to know what you are up against, and what you are talking about.
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16). In every battle you will need "faith" as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. You either believe or not. "You must have faith."
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17). You will need the helmet of salvation, the defender, and the sword of the spirit, The two edged sword of Christ, which is the Word of God. "It cuts both ways." Know God's Word, study it, share it, and use it when it is needed, and you will do just fine.
Keep The Faith,Barton
